I would hope so, but some of the Yes'rs are just so desperate to get rid of Nige that they'll do anything to spite him.

Some are even revising history to make out that we've been oppressed, or we were conquered by the English when it was a partnership which thrived and invented the modern world.

Truth is that most Scots feel we've been given the wrong end of a ****ty stick since the 60/70's (since we joined the EEC!!) and I suppose it rings true as the UK shed it's commonwealth in favour of closer ties with the Federalist EU, and their revenge has been the collapse of UK industry.

What a load of bullshit you spout Nov. We had to endure months of Better Together telling us the result was in the bag. Some were even predicting that Yes wouldn't get above 30 per cent.

I think the EU as an open market is a great idea and genuinely adds to the economy (I also approve in the free market of Capital and People), but there are lots of flaws. For instance the Common Agricultural Policy is ******ed - I've a mate who was seriously considering buying up a bit of forested land in the middle of England because the EU subsidies would pay him a return of about 6% per year even if though he was planning to do **** all with it. There's little prospect of getting rid of this because the Frenchies are raking it in, and they love a state subsidy.

Anyway Norway in particular is having problems not being in the EU http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/d...we-should-aim-to-copy-switzerland-not-norway/ - as I said the problem is not being at the table. Don't trust those German and French ****s not to introduce some 'standardization' law which helps their companies, to the exclusion of others - for instance T-Mobile/Orange suddenly find a new EU law which standardizes a technology they have patented (such as GSM), while Vodafone will have to comply (and pay royalties) to do business inside the EU.

They have history of trying this **** as well - last year they tried to ban olive oil jugs in restaurants on 'health' grounds and instead required them to provide oil in individually sealed containers. This scheme was quite obviously designed to promote the interests of olive oil producers rather than consumers, but was chucked out after a public outcry. Imagine the only downside to one of these stupid laws was that certain British companies (such as the city of London) would feel the pain - and Britain was outside the EU?

There would be beel, of course. But we were never expected to win and most experts have been telling us for ages we had no chance.

But can you imagine the beel if No loses it? Woof! Davie Boy will be dragged out of Downing Street and lynched, Gordon Brown will eat his own face and Alastair Darling's eyebrows will divorce him. It's worth voting Yes just to see Westminster and the trough pigs go into mega-beel mode.

    And Nev will probably cry.

In the event of a No vote, can the Scottish Government try again in say 10 years or so?

You're not really making a case for the EU though. Norway had a referendum and voted against it. That's what I want... a vote.

You're saying join the EU so you can join the cronyism and distort competition.

You are a bundle of contradictions.

I'm not arguing against a vote? I'm a pragmatist and I see the flaws that are in the system. You know my views on cronyism - I'm saying you have to be part of the EU to block others from doing it (and they will do it, especially the French, they are the biggest crony ****s of them all, dressing it up as Socialism).

The true Free Market aspects of the EU are an Anglo-Saxon thing - talk to someone clued up in French, Spanish or even German politics and they would say that the British have been astonishingly successful in making the EU in its own image, and that others in the EU are resentful of the implementation of Smithian economics. English is also the official language of the EU, 93% of children in secondary education in the EU were learning English compared to 23% learning French and 24% learning German - and somehow all the little Britain types see the organisation as something foreign.
