Unless I'm mistaken, outfield players can't be recalled from long-term loans - unless they're merely being recalled in order to be sold.

Standard season long loans can be cancelled in the January transfer window for any reason, unless the contract terms specifically prohibit it(usually only done if a loan fee has been paid).

Gotcha. I couldn't find the relevant rule anywhere yesterday, but here it is...

Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window. Any other early termination of a Standard Loan must be by way of a mutual agreement in writing (including by way of a recall clause within the Standard Loan Agreement) between both Clubs and the Player but can only be completed after the expiry of 28 days and only during a Transfer Window

Mutual Agreement between who though ? The parent club and the player or the parent club and the club the player is loaned to? Seems pointless putting a release clause in if two parties then have to "agree"

So reading that if Newcastle haven't added a recall clause (which by all accounts they haven't) then the only way that Ben Arfa is going back to Newcastle in January is if he, Hull City and Newcastle United agree.
If Hull City disagree there is naff all Newcastle can do selling him aside to get him away from us if we don't want him to leave.

It's right there.

I read that to mean that you can put one in to trigger in January if you want it but if you don't then he can only go back if everyone agrees in January.

I believe there's an exclusion where the loaning club can recall the player without mutual agreement, if they have another club that want to buy the player.
Which was why I mentioned 'selling aside'. I assumed you were answering me BTW?

If all that is true Pardew really is being a **** isn't he and not just to Ben Arfa either but to Newcastle United as well.

After six months can we agree a contract with him for next season with him being on a free at the end of this season?

An open letter HBA to the NUFC fans.

He wrote, “To the Toon Army I want to pass on my thanks to all the fans that supported me during my time at the club and living in a city that will be forever in my heart.

“Thank you also to everyone at NUFC and to Hull for making this loan happen.”

“I wish Newcastle the best of luck. I hope they have a good season.”

“I can’t wait to launch my career again with Hull and Steve Bruce. I thank him for the trust he has shown in me bringing me to this club.”

The 27-year-old though signed off his letter with: “Howay the lads.”

Looks like I'll be watching a lot of Hull games this season. When you see him live and what he can do to defences you won't be disappointed. Wrong person left the club, should have been the no-hoper, egotistical, tactically clueless Pardew.

Make sure you give us a hammering when you come up here in two and a half weeks, might see Pardew sacked. Cheers lads.

Absolutely gutted he has left NUFC. You have one of the most exciting players in the PL on your books now. You guys need to cherish this lad. Love him and he will perform!

Hatem Ben Arfa will single handedly get your entire stadium off its seat, just with the sense of anticipation when he picks the ball up anywhere on the pitch. He is truly a joy to behold. You will have alot of NUFC fans following Hull City now. Once Hatem has belonged to you, you can't break the bond :emoticon-0152-heart

Looks like we are going to need a bigger stadium!

Sounds to me like he's definitely done with NUFC but if any half decent club comes in, I can see him not staying with us.But we'll see.

He wants to move to a bigger Club after the 12mth loan is up, basically he is in the shop window for a year..I can see Marseille or a half decent Champions League Club taking him on a free transfer if he takes off here
