You lot needed a striker and now you have one simple really. As far as how good he is we will see over the season. I hope he's **** personally but lets see.
The jury is still out on Welbeck, but he made a very clever move to Arsenal. He will be coming into a team that has a hell of a lot of creativity and the fact that he has not much competition for the CF spot, should have enough time to bed in and prove himself. Unless he's complete gash, he should score at least 10-15 prem goals this season with the kind of service we give him. Now it's over to Welbeck, is he as good as the hype surrounding him? There is no better platform than Arsenal for him.
Creativity? Have you watched us this season? I can think of three straight off who would create more chances for him. Liverpool. Chelsea. City. Our creativity rests on playing our creative players in their best positions. Will AW do this?
Well when we hit some sort of form we should be creating. But I do agree, I really don't like it when Wenger plays our best playmaker on the wing, F-knows why he does it. But the following team, playing in their PROPER POSITIONS, should create plenty: OXO-------WELBECK--------SANCHEZ ------------------OZIL--------------- --------RAMSEY--------FLAMINI------ Plenty of pace for link up play up front and Ozil will pull the strings.
Now that we have a central striker maybe Wenger will shift Sanchez out wide and put Ozil through the middle. Hope so.
It should happen, otherwise whats the point of buying Welbeck? But he probably needs to change the system up a little as Welbeck isn't Giroud. With Welbeck, we should be able to break with a lot of pace, so we can be dangerous on the counter. I do hope Wenger changes to this against City and Chelsea away. I can understand we lacked pace last season but this is now not the case.
Not a big fan of Welbeck, he will do better playing upfront than the crap utd made him do. Good or bad for Arsenal? Well he is better than Sanogo, but then so are most of us.
A bit early to predict these kind of figures, especially when he hasn't played a game for us. Also you have to factor what will happen if he has a dip in form and when Walcott and Giroud comes back? I can see him scoring around 10-15 goals in the league, but not so sure he will be effective in the champions league and whether or not he'll be played in all the domestic cup games. We are yet to see what kind of players Wenger wants to see up front.
The strikers who have moved in this window are falcao, costa, mandzukic, remy, ballotelli and negredo i would have prefered all of them apart from remy. but i think the signing of wellbeck has been made to get the best out of theo and sanchez he will work very hard in order to help those guys get goals he is not a selfish striker and another plus i see from this deal is that Wellbeck hasnt really got a run of games under his belt i can see him becoming a good player for us and i honestly believe he will have 10 league goals under his belt by january
I'll support him whilst he's in the shirt but I'm FAR from happy about it. We needs a natural poacher and we get another bloody winger!! We're going to have the worst shot accuracy in the league with the crap we've got upfront. And £16 mill too! Only 2 or 3 years ago, that would've been a lot of money for us. Are we really to believe that WELBECK is the best striker we could get for 16 MILLION.
For 16 mill we could have got ballotelli but like you i will support him regardless he is an arsenal player now. I am more nervous about the cover for defence doe surely we cant rely on chambers to cover cb,rb and dm
Man Utd have done bloody well to get £16 million out of you for Welbeck, but he's not a bad player. I'd say he's short of top 4 quality, and to be honest I expect him to be sold in a year or two for less than you've paid, probably to a **** club like ours, but that doesn't mean it won't be a beneficial signing. He's awkward and gangly, can finish on occasion, has a bit of pace, and is big and fairly competent at playing on the floor football. I think he'll score goals, you'll be frustrated that it won't be as many as you'd like, but it'll be enough to justify most of the fee. As an England fan, I hope it works out, as a football fan it's just a bit peculiar, but hey ho
Personally hope Wenger plays him down the middle it's his natural position. When played down the middle for United he scored 10 goals got 3 assists in 13 games. Not too shabby! Also because he's quick he can actually beat and run past defenders. Something neither Giroud or Sanogo can do. When Walcott comes back I expect.. --Sanchez---Wellbeck---Walcott-- -------------------Ozil-------------------- That's a forward line full of pace. Gonna scare the crap out of defences.
