I don't agree. You repeatedly make excuses for our wins. It's always something like... great effort but weak opposition. Your support is always qualified by how bad the opposition are. You just won't admit that we won because we're a good team.
Yes, we should get carried away. That's what it's all about. All together now... We're gonna win the league.
Were Man Utd poor?

The answer to all 3 was yes, granted West Brom were made to look even worse by how we played, but lets not get ahead of ourselves, the best test we have had so far was Burnley who were pretty good apart from the goal they conceded. Chelsea will be the big test for us I feel, I hope we can get something from it, but being realistic, they are doing very well, they put 6 past Everton at Goodison park, so its not going to be easy. Win there and then we can say we are doing really well. But so far, its hard to judge properly.
And being honest in ones opinion is better than over hyping the situation and getting ahead of yourself, just to please those who like to think overly positive.As getting ahead of yourself will only see you be more disappointed if it was to go a bit downhill. Monk has done fantastic so far and I am happy for the bloke, but I am hopeful he realises that so far we have yet to be really tested, and will know deep down that Man Utd and West Brom were poor against us.
Lets not forget we will have bad days too, and it will not always be down to the opposition, so lets not pretend it doesn't happen to other teams too, show some respect for us and other teams. So yes I prefer to keep my feet planted firmly on the ground with Dragon than to over-hype the situation. Because I would bet that Monk will be noticing it too so that he can make us better as a club too, and thats what we need, a bit of realism IMO.
You're stating the obvious. Relatively few (if any) are getting seriously carried away and think we're suddenly a top of the table side. No one's being overly positive or over hyping (that I've read), simply living in the moment and enjoying our position. It won't last. It'll be very short lived. But right now we are second in the Premier League! Some should just enjoy it as it's a rarity. It could be a long time before we can enjoy a little limelight again.
I will be disappointed soon enough, for now I'm relishing it

United - Nobody knew what to expect but we all suspected we would lose because we usually do away to massive clubs. We showed good discipline, a good team ethic and a clinical side. We were all pleased with the boys' performance but.....it's undeniable now that this is an exceptionally poor United team.
Monk will have expected - 0 points Got - 3pts
Burnley - A newly promoted team we will have targeted 3 points against at home. They were a proper team, a team that has taken seasons to build, a team that had got used to winning at home and nabbing points away from home over the course of their promotion season. A team that knew how to stifle us and worked their bollocks off to achieve that. We were good in the 1st half but lost control of the game in midfield in the second half. We showed good concentration and that work ethic (again) to ride the storm and keep Burnley out, but ultimately a fairer result would have been a draw. A lot of fans felt pleased at the way the boys' ground out the result but were not encouraged by the performance.

W.B.A. - We've beaten both home and away on a consistent basis (when we've played well) in the Prem. In many ways it is strange that they don't learn their lessons against us. I certainly was expecting them to put men behind the ball, show discipline regarding their shape and put pressure on the ball this time. They didn't learn their lessons and stood off us way too much, maybe the early goal had a big effect. We played very well. Our movement off the ball was better than it has been for a while. We were back to moving the ball quick (rarely taking more than 2 touches) and have the pace, firepower and creativity up front to really take it to a team like W.B.A.
First time I've been encouraged by a Monk team since Napoli (which I always saw as the Laudrup team's last hurrah myself).

However, the United game is skewing things....the victory there has given us the perfect start.
We will have targeted the other 2 games as 2 home wins and 6 points. We did excellent to achieve that, but nonetheless we would have hoped for 6 points by this stage. We have 9 points because of our very good performance, and United's very poor performance, at Old Trafford.
As plenty have stated the test of how our season is going to go will be the next 7 games or so....but regardless of what happens we couldn't have made a better start.
In our next game there can be little doubt that we will be playing an excellent in form team....I don't expect anything from Chelsea but would be encouraged by a good performance.
Then we have a couple more teams who are direct rivals for mid table spots home and away....we'll know where we are much better after these games.

"expected" does not equal "gets"
We expected to beat WBA last season. We lost 2-1.
We expected to beat Palace last season. We drew 1-1.
ManU expected to beat us this season. They got spanked
ManC expected to beat Stoke. They lost.
So when a team wins a game they expected to win, they still DO deserve credit. Games are there to be won, but you still have to deliver.

I totally agree, but tell that to plastic who is a "happy fan" having a pop at Dragon who had the audacity to point out that the opposition were poor.
We hate it when teams say they lost to us because they played badly and don't accept our good play, and this is the complete opposite, we will beat teams playing well, and we should also be able to acknowledge that other teams have off days too.
Im merely standing up for Dragon against plastic, I am not saying that everyone who is happy is behaving the same.

I believe it is I that remembers that "we are Swansea and not Barcelona" because my post contains realism as well as praise.

What gets me though is that the usual suspects change things after the event.
Before the Utd game, Utd were overwhelming favorites to win and even most Swans fans that they would win. Utd had such a great pre-season that they were being tipped for the top, while we were being tipped for the bottom. Before the match, none of the usual suspects mentioned Utd being in disarray and us being in with a chance. We beat an in-form team because we outplayed them. But then the usual suspects claimed Utd were in disarray and that was why we beat them. They claim that Utd's subsequent games prove this, but it doesn't. We beat them and they suddenly lost confidence. That's it.
So ten the usual suspects said, let's wait and see how we do against Burnley and WBA. So we beat them and beat Rotherham as well. So now they want us to wait for Chelsea. This will go on and on until we lose. The first time we lose they will say... I told you so.
Nothing wrong with mentioning that we played weak opposition, but we haven't really. Man U were in great form and Burnley gave us a good game. Neither was a weak team. WBA weren't so good, but we still beat them.
Cheer up you guys and stop expecting us to fail. Enjoy the ride. These are the best of times and you don't seem happy.

Points against the top teams and wins away from home always come but can't be predicted and are a bonus which make up for the disappointment of points dropped in games we have targeted.
That goes for us and the rest of the clubs who aren't loaded.
So we will have targeted 6 points from 3 games (Just to get these 6 would have been a job well done) and actually have 9 points which is way beyond everybody's expectations and rightfully praise has been heaped down upon the team by everyone.....I get the impression that no amount of praise would ever be enough. Just remember that when, inevitably, we hit a rough patch.

I was under the impression that we targeted every match, home and away, for a a win. Why would we only try to win the easier matches?
You are wrong about the praise. Read my previous post again. No-one claimed United were in disarray before that match, but after we won some were saying we won only because they were in disarray. If they were really in disarray, these people should have mentioned it beforehand, not made it up after the match.
Anyway, end of debate for me. You lot carry on if you want. I'm more than happy with out fantastic start. Especially as we started against an in-form team.

We've had a great start, no if's, no but's, and the proof is we are joint top of the league. Regardless of what the usual suspects say. Our position has been achieved through 3 solid wins from 3 solid games (and don't forget our kids winning in the cup too).
It wont last, we will lose games, I know that, you know that, most intelligent people know that. When we do I expect a barrage of abuse from the special ones who are desperate for our failure. They have flown their true colours yet again, long may they continue to stress over our success.
