Assaidi wanted to be paid- and didn't want to have to carry water to the real players. I have big expectations for Ibe, and don't think he would have got the time he needed this year, the loan is good. I think he'll be in our first team next year if he carries on like this. Short term, yes, he would have been useful, long term, he needs the experience to be good for us next year. Deadline day nears... inflation, harder for them to find a replacement. He's had a few birthday cakes given to him acknowledged by the club since leaving City... Me to. Sure, Falcao, Cavani, etc, would have been better if realistic- but if it's Balotelli or Eto'o- as much as I dislike Balo- he's better than Eto'o... Same price as Bony though- wouldn't we better off with him? I seem to recall that too... although, that was before we couldn't sign Cavani and Falcao (theoretically). I like Cech. Probably still better than Migs. Ah, your usual Mourinho butt sniff. I see nothing in Jose's history where he won with a club which wasn't the biggest club in the country, financially when he took over. He's also always left a club weeker than he found it- buying peak, or past peak players for high transfer prices, and then leaves the club with old players who are on huge wages. He's not a long term solution... he's a good manager, but not one of the best- certainly not a long term thinker. A short term fixer-upper if you have a lot of dosh. He can't stay anywhere long term anyway because he makes everyone angry wherever he goes.
Feel that Rodgers could get the best out of Balo and any BS off or on the pitch wouldn't be tolerated by the hierarchy. The club proved its bollocks have descended from its groin by standing firm in last year's transfer window. Just as important, BR demands discipline and players want to play for him... how many are refusing to leave? That's actually a key word for Balo, discipline, at other clubs under other managers his abilities and energy have been misdirected and unfocused... maybe it was down to being young as well. With some age on him and a better set up we could turn him into a really coveted striker.
All crap rumours. Rodgers ruled out Balottelli. Yesterday twitter went mad saying we bid for Falcao, today its Balotelli. We will end up with crap like etoo.
As long as we end up with somebody... Don't want another Carroll going on loan scenario. I suppose this time we have Borini (maybe) and Lambert... but that's not huge comfort.
It's all bollox la, just take it with the proverbial pinch and go with it, no point getting clenchy arse over tabloid and internet goss. Fun to think about. Won't truly know until September 1st. Then go ballistic.
Still think the most realistic signing is going to be Bony or Eto'o should we have no one by 31st August. The others are just pipe dreams!
Did we miss a trick here? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...dow-transfer-embargo-rejected-FIFA-panel.html And don't say we needed the money early to get players in pre-season, as even by Brendan's admission, we still have the Luis money to spend. Surely Barca would have got increasingly desperate as the window drew nearer to closing, in both selling and buying? And, as it turns out, CAS didn't favour Barca any more than they would have Liverpool (that one surprised me). See they're still trying the old Neymar line that they didn't pay the reported asking price (reported by all but their placelings like Gullible Bulls**t). Surely we should find out when the FFP figures are published?
I still think Bony has the best hair of any striker we've been linked with- so I want him. / objective reasoning
Squawka Football ✔ @Squawka Since making his league debut for AC Milan in 2013, no player has scored more Serie A goals than Mario. The only Premier League players to score more goals than Balotelli during that time are Sturridge (30) & Suarez (37).
The Italian league is notoriously more difficult to score in. Balotelli is a great player, and if we got him it would signify a very good transfer window for us, I trust Rodgers to be the man to get the best out of him.
Was it ****. Astro said that he was a better manager, he never specified in what way - which wouldn't have mattered anyway, as it was ****ing idiotic comment.
What will be will be. I don't agree with the "as long as we get someone" attitude. We should only ever sign the right player and if that means us being short until January then so be it. Assuming they didn't meet a release clause (I think they did) then yes, we could have held out longer and got more as they would have been desperate. However, come the sale, we'd have been desperate to buy too and could have missed some of our targets as well. I'm happy with the deal we got, I certainly wouldn't spend £75m to buy Suarez so we have to be happy we receiving that much IMO
Of course it was. The talk was about his ego and how Rodger's could potentially be the manager to calm him down and deal with his temperament better than previous managers. He may not have said the word "better managing players ego's" but that is what the talk was about and it was meant in that way.
Obviously I mean "somebody of quality". And I disagree about being short. If "being short" is the reason we get 2nd instead of 1st or 5th instead of 4th, etc... then it wasn't the right call. Sturridge injury could cost us a great deal of points if we don't get somebody. I'd rather get someone not quite as good now rather than wait to January- especially, if like Balotelli rumour, it is on a loan-to-buy agreement. Buy someone better next summer if he turns out to be the arse we're expecting.
Not saying Brenden couldn't handle Balotelli (nobody will know), but for someone using Mancini didn't handle Tevez well, same could be same with Rodgers and Aspas or Rodgers and Reina
Aspas never did anything rash at Liverpool... he was famous for being a "bad boy" in Spain. He's left us on loan- and within his first couple of games he's already headbutted someone. I think Rodgers handled him alright!
