<laugh> Thanks for the reasoned argument. My point was that by labelling people who defended the board's actions as the "Positive Police" you were effectively doing what you accused them of, i.e, suggesting their opinions aren't even valid.

Nope, no I wasn't.

You mean Beefy's post? Agreed with every word of that one.
Pie's, which was basically saying "we shouldn't talk about it any more because there's a right way and a wrong way and the people who think the wrong way aren't worth talking to". Basically what you accused Joe of doing.

I think Pie could have worded that better to be fair. Generally, I absolutely agree that everyone is entitled to their view, and the only reason to quash someone is if they start insulting other people. What I objected to in Joe's post was the concept of some sort of higher authority on this forum which didn't allow anti-board or anti-Katharina views to be expressed. If you look at the amount of **** the board have had thrown at them since Nicola's departure, you would have to agree that the Positive Police have been singularly ineffective in quashing the dissenters. And some of that **** was from me by the way, before you ask.

In terms of continuing the debate, the thread can stay as long as people keep posting on it as far as I'm concerned.

The issue is, and I'm sure is what Joe was referring to with the positive police comment, that there are people on here who see it as their sworn duty to shut down every negative opinion people have by dismissing their opinions as invalid. You're allowed an uninformed positive opinion but not an informed negative opinion. The idea of allowing both sides of a discussion falls apart when only one side of a discussion is allowed.

As I say, I don't recall much shutting down going on in the last 6 months or so, but if you want to give me some examples, fair enough.

I think you need to start realising that what seems reasonable to you might not seem reasonable to someone else. You see some people as just trying to put the boot into the board at every opportunity, but those people might see you as so determined to convince yourself that everything is okay that your reason is partially suspended.

It's a two way street, lads.

actually Joe it is an anyway street.

When you say "dismissing them as invalid", does that include 'counter-arguing' them? There is absolutely nothing wrong with someone posting a negative view as there is nothing wrong with someone countering it with a positive view. If that isn't allowed, better close the forum.

If it makes sense to them then let them express it. I don't think it's true but we might as well acknowledge and discuss the possibility. There's nothing more annoying than the Positive Police who attempt to quash any mention of any possibility that a situation isn't totally fine. Let people speculate.

Joe, as much people can speculate, why can't other people counter that? It's a two way street.

No, it doesn't include counter-arguing them. That's fine, obviously.

Try and deny it all you want, but there is a select few on here that resort to personal insults and shutting down of opinions as soon as anyone says anything slightly negative.

I am all for having counter arguments as discussion but I was insulted just the other day for my opinion.

First where have I denied anything?

2. Did I insult you?

Haha charming! I have cheered up a bit after the weekend anyway. In all the summer madness I simply forgot that I will always love watching saints anyway, even if we take a backwards step.

Also judging by that performance we're still pretty damn good apparently.

Duno why my post got deleted. Even you knew I was just joking.

Can I make a plea that if anyone feels they have been shouted down or personally insulted, that they report the post (use the triangle button under the post) or PM me or any of the mods, rather than argue the toss in public. I promise that the mods will take appropriate action.
