You can't just look at the fee, he's on over £50k a week and I'm not sure Chelsea would accept £3-4m for him anyway, he cost them £9m.
I think SB has agreed with AA that the fee has to be accepted and now has to find a proven premier league striker. I really hope he has a striker agreed but I'm not sure Borini would be my guess as to who he's after
He's another Rodwell in many respects...signed by a top 4 side for big money and wages...played a few more games but his career/form has gone down hill. Someone's got to get a bargain this transfer window.
We have to try and get a proven premier league player first and foremost - I wouldn't think Deeney would be high on the list of targets, but twt...
Everton have brought Lukaku in at huge expense and when I flicked through their squad I was quietly hoping they'd have enough decent back up to allow us to nick Naismith off them but they are very thin. Kone is talented but had a serious injury. Naismith looked great last season and is exactly the player we need. Possible?
I don't think there are many left that are in our price range. The only ones I can think of are Bendtner, Kone, Crouch, Wickham or Cisse and none of those are what you'd call regular goal scorers. Not exactly blow your socks off are they?
This is where Deeney could be a decent acquisition, as he will have better quality players around him to feed off of this season, than he has the last 2
Thought forwards aren't all about scoring goals?? I imagine bendtners and crouch have easily better goal scoring records than long
Everyone's s**tty suggestions on this forum just reinforces my belief that we shouldn't sell Long. Bendtner? Wickham? Deeney? FFS. The only decent suggestion I've heard is Slimani.
Remy? doubtful but he's about the only one i can think of that's an improvement on Long. It'd be ironic if we sign a striker who failed a medical at another team, after what happened with Austin 12 months ago.
