I would expect it wasn't Bruce's decision to sell but he wouldn't see it as something he should fight given the profit. Trying to replace Long with somebody as good is going to be difficult though.
Id say we need to replace him with a nippy little goal poacher , an upgraded better version of Fryatt , or poor mans Augero as such, great sense of balance, upper mussle, and be very pacy, tricky around the box, only needs half a chance Over to you Steve Bruce
Southern Daily Echo has it on the full back page saying that Southampton have inquired about Long. They say he was a target in January. Its odd for me seeing a City shirt on back page of my morning paper!!
If it's true, which I'm still hoping it's not, then I reckon they'll have enquired, we've warned them off with a massive price tag, they've said yes in desperation and we've been forced into a tough decision we didn't expect to have to make.

Nick Powell on loan will be the replacement and £12m with sit in our nest until January. It should be spent on Micah Richards with plenty to spare.
Agree dont think it will get spent now, Bruce will save it for Jan Transfer Window or next summer A loan will come in to replace, John Guidetti would fit perfect
Not really a lot is it in the grand scheme of things. Another good replacement option, Guly Do Prado is still without a club, he'd be an excellent addition on a free.

absolutely robbed them. his work rate is good but thats a fantastic price for a striker that only gets 7 / 8 a season. Jelavic is the finisher in the squad, opens up a place for Ince / aluko to play just behind jelavic as a main striker.
Dont get this thing some have with nick powell, miles better prospects in the united reserves/youth everybody was raving about powell last season when a certain januzaj was the cram of the crop in the reserves and broke through, id rather have james wilson on loan than powell the lad who scored 2 on his debut vs southampton last season who giggs introduced, similar to long in he has pace, works hard from the front and can finish Think the ones calling for remy are hilarious too anybody know what his wages are ? He nearly went for 8 million, why not throw a bid at QPR and see what happens? Newcastle aren't much better than us and he played for them all last season.
Jelavic is the finisher who doesn't finish, Long actually improved him. Ince hasn't even played one full game yet.
