Lot of speculation going on here. None of you ****ers really know what's going on. Let's wait and see.

If he goes, it would indeed be an odd move, but I wouldn't hold any ill-will towards him. Professional sportsmen have to do what they think is best for their careers these days, and to direct insults at him is ****ing childish.

EDIT: unless, of course, he badmouths the club when he's gone. Then it would be fair game.
 
Blimey. I'm in a different time zone and I wake up to to the news that Shane Long is going to Soton for £12 million - am I still dreaming? I bet we bit their hands off!

I see where you're coming from but Rhodes is an incredibly promising young talent, and Long is hardly 'proven'. Scoring a handful of goals a season coupled with injury issues isn't a huge thing.

Don't get me wrong I absolutely love Long and will be gutted if he leaves because I'm convinced he was in for a great season with us, but I have no idea who we'll get and I'd prefer Rhodes.
 
Actually... one option that would make a lot of sense is Ings from Burnley, since we were supposedly scouting them the other week against Blackpool.

Southampton fans reckon they went for Ings first (well second after Hernandez) but Burnley told them no. Surely we'd get the same answer.
 
Weve proper had Southamptons pants down , 12 mill is crazy money for Long , he is worth half that at best

Hope Bruce doesnt bank it to keep AA sweet, then just replace with a loan signing in a view to making it perm next Summer

What's the point in making a profit on Long if you have to spend more on getting somebody else to replace him?

I'd keep him if possible.
 
It's about getting more goals or the same goals and something / someone additional. Bruce will not deal to reduce the over whole quality.

I think it would be good if more of the viewers of posts actually posted, especially if some of serial posters backed off a tad.

He is. Fast, strong, tireless running, team player. Long has more of an instinct for goal and is always cheating but Sagbo can offer us most of what long does.
