Bicentennial Man.... a surprisingly moving film. He had a lot of depth to him Terribly sad.... Makes you realise how old you are getting when those whom your life has been touch by/enlightened by begin to disappear...Rik Mayall, Robin Williams I am feeling my own mortality at this moment
Me neither. He was obviously a very funny guy though to millions of people. Just not everyone's cup of tea. Lee Evans is another one I've never "got". Seemed like a very nice man though and was a good actor. RIP
Why because I have an opinion on these echo threads when someone who was given fame dies or takes their own life. You get sad lost, shock etc etc blah blah. Each person joining in to own a bit of the grief ... that is how daft culture has become in a world where children are getting bombed daily ... even that incenses me as what does the west do ... make a new ****ing charity. He took his own life it is reported ... He gets nothing from me but that's just me and i am proud of that. As a creative I can say that I would instantly turn this actor off if he ever came into my view. That started with Mork and Mindy ... he was possibly one of my personal top hated actors ( if you call him that) No one on here I doubtfire even thought about Robin Williams last Saturday and it took his death to shock people!!!. If you liked him and was a fan to some degree then anyone would understand your comments ... I wasn't plus he killed himself so hence my comments Waste? well he certainly is now
He hated me Uber as I refused to watch him or take him seriously as an actor. I am proud that I haven't contributed to his fame. We like what we like and celebrities have to be real people for me ... this bloke clearly wasn't what the general public thought he was ... found himself in a position of fame while the rest of the world struggles then it's reported that he took his own life. We are all given one. My views on suicide will always be the same that is how i am shaped It would be better to discuss who we think will die next and start paying our respects now. The Queen won't be long now
DT that's a bit much really. Yes I agree suicide is the ultimate selfish act but obviously he had his inner demons. I also agree he wasn't everyone's cup of tea but he did have some outstanding performances in a straight role. A flawed genius perhaps. PS- I bet the queen has a good few more years left!
I can't believe anyone who has seen 'Good Will Hunting' or 'Dead Poet Society' could say he wasn't a brilliant actor. RIP.
Perhaps you'd like to clarify these views for the benefit of your public before somebody gets 'excited'?
Sure, we are all entitled to our own opinion but surely, as a person loved and appreciated by millions around the world …… even if you dont like him and with just a little decency, if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing.
Nor me. Too frenetic as a comedian for me (can't watch Jim Carrey either) I liked Robin Williams's straight acting however, and am sad to hear this news. There's an irony that the uncertainties and success/failure peaks and troughs of the acting profession make for the very worst environment for a bi-polar sufferer. Yet artistically, it's often these sufferers that have the necessary talent to work in it.
Mother, Best friends x 2 plus my own fight following these to recognise the pain people face after the selfish dark comes. Not a day goes by without me thanking East Sussex Mental Health... Inner strength is there for everyone Save your grief for when a true TV great dies example: David Attenborough Welcome to discuss anything, anyone ... this is a forum and i feel strongly to comment on it about something that to me is daft ... Millions liked him Millions hated him ... more so now he has taken his own life IMO The culture of going from one to the next celebrity death and tying that into decency s something i have risen above. I live my life giving what i can to people who are in a lesser position but still have to live that life. It what i see as a privilege and whatever privileges are given to you ... it's simple to give
You all want to take a look at "The World According to Garp" excellent film he starred in. It is a shame and everybody has their demons and some come handle them and some cant. Thousands of new people every day in UK asking for help for depression/mental health issues.
Yep and some people are too far gone ... Each case is different from guilt and crime to terminal illness. Life is temporary enjoy it. Suicide is what?
Jim Carey, Lee Evans, Robin Williams - as comedians no thanks, but Williams had more to him than the others and, when directed well, could turn in a very good straight performance - Insomnia was very, very good. There is a limited link between bi-polar and creativity, but that doesn't equate to talent, and you don't need the illness to be talented or creative. In my view definitely not worth the price you pay, these are debilitating illnesses.
Wasnt meant to be sn opinion poll on an actor...more so just a mark of respect for ll those who wanted to contribute to an actor that bought happiness to millions of adults and children your personal views on scuicide were not asked for but obviously if you feel you MUST tell us, dont let common decency stand in the way. I agree he's not the worlds best but made a lot of people happy across the world. how many others on here that put him down have done the same? thought not Again, iyour opinions are your own
