I don't need stats, I've watched him for years and seen him outpace every single opponent he's come up against.
Here's another one for you- if you best striker was a failure in the PL, how do you think your 2nd best striker's going to fare? (Vardy). I see all your attacking hopes lying on the shoulders of an unproven 28yr old with 14 championship goals last season.

In all seriousness, I would take Upson over Rio, but that's nothing to do with their ability (I wouldn't want to play either of them in the Premiership). I'm still trying to work out that signing tbh.
Actually wouldn't have minded seeing Caulker here. We do need another CB, perhaps we'll look to get one in on loan closer to the deadline. Our defence are in for a baptism of fire with our opening fixtures, will be interesting to see how Morgan and whoever may partner him will get on. But they deserve a chance, and I'm happy to give them it.
As for your comments regarding Nugent, I honestly believe he has come a long way since his last stint in the Premier League. Clever footballer, but of pace about him. Not relied on as the "main man" to grab the goals, as he was at Portsmouth and Burnley. Bit less pressure on his shoulders. What impressed me most last season was the number of assists.
As for Vardy, who knows how he'll get on? He has bundles of pace, and I'm looking forward to seeing him play in the big league. "Unproven" isn't always a negative, you know. The Blackpool side that went up, "unproven" is an understatement, and perhaps the underestimation by the opposition is what led to them starting the season so well. The element of surprise could work in our favour.
All I know is, this "unproven" lot absolutely smashed the Championship last season. They sure as hell deserve their chance to show that they can do.
What do you suggest we do? "Yeah, cheers guys for getting us here. But you see, none of you have played in the Premier League before, so we're gona have to sell you all and replace you with those who have. Don't let the door hit you on the way out..."
If it doesn't work out, well, there's always a January transfer window. It's a marathon, not a sprint, and I wouldn't get too excited if we are, say, bottom in November. Palace proved that no matter how bleak things may look, it's not over 'til it's over.
We have a fantastic team spirit, and to outright state that these players who walked the Championship just aren't good enough for the PL is a bit naive, perhaps wishful thinking on your part. Truth is, nobody knows...
