So really the crux of your argument is "I can't get a better paid job because of a character defect (it's ok we al have them well at least i know i do) so rather than improve my performance I'm going to blame everybody else for it and make up things about the public sector in an effort to make my self pitying look justified." Well done.
Public sector workers seem to be the scum of the earth as far as most posts on this thread are concerned. Trying to protect terms and conditions and hold on to a pension makes them thieving barstewards?
Teachers, Police, fire service, health workers, social workers, refuse collectors, street sweepers, etc turn up to work where nobody else will and deserve decent terms and conditions for SERVING the public. We are all the public no matter what our job is.
Would you support a thread that said "Greedy bankers should be shot?" As far as I'm concerned they have more to answer for than the tea lady at the local town hall.
Sadly the teachers strike won't change a thing, we are back to the 80's and Cameron seems intent on finishing off the job that Thatcher started.

I think too many people on this thread have been listening to too much mainstream media. The fact that the illustrious Michael Gove is telling us that if teachers strike then they will change the striking rules and he claims it is an inconvenience for parents. So what he is saying is that teachers etc should allow him to reduce their pensions, whilst he gets a large one because he is apparently more important than they are. Ironically the fact that so many people/parents rely on teachers underline how important their jobs are. Others claiming that teacher pensions are too large, well if you worked in the private sector with the same qualifications you would get paid far more, so a good pension is the make up for the poorer wages. It is funny how there is no money for public pensions but plenty for fighting wars and paying off banking mistakes.
Too many people are continuing to believe the myth that we need to keep cutting costs at the expense of public welfare and human rights so we can preserve an economic system that does not work and is unsustainable.
