An aging pro with nothing left to prove, who's taking multiple steps down to go to your club (or mine). He'll be used to being in stellar teams surrounded by fantastic players, competing for silverware. I wonder how he'll adjust to an environment where avoiding relegation is #1 concern. How many Italian speakers have you got in your side to help with that adjustment by the way? And I wonder how james/drinkwater will feel being shoved-out for someone who hasn't contributed to Leicester's return to the PL. Not to mention the fact he'll be on a bigger wage than those who've grafted to get you where you are. Lets be real, he's never heard of Leicester of QPR- so primarily he'll be coming for money.
For your sake I hope these kind of signings don't damage what is reputedly a good team spirit.
..but of course, he's Cambiasso! Or he's Park, or Cesar, or Samba. How can superstars like that possibly be turned down?
Your response to this signing is very similar to ours when the aforementioned where announced. Best of luck to you- maybe it'll work for your club, but it certainly didn't for ours.

At the end if the day though we can only speculate as signing a player of such high calibre and world known reputation will take us as a club into the unknown in recent years. Let's wait and see..... Hey we might not even sign the guy.

........... and the proposed contract of 2 million euros a year (reportedly) would give him approx £14.38 per week more than our current top earners (reportedly) at current exchange rate. And if the pound strengthens against the euro, then he would be on less than our current top earners. We do need experience around the club and the signings of Hammond, Was, Phillips and GTF last season had a marked improvement on our young players helping us to win the Championship at a canter. The signing of Upson and potential signing of Cambiasso would compliment this. The experienced players we brought in last season were not the first names on our team sheet, and of those 4 mentioned only Was became a regular starter, and even that was only after Moore was injured. Cambiasso has been a different class, capable still of doing a job, but our young midfield of Drinkwater, James, Mahrez, Knockaert and even Albrighton could gain an immense amount from him at our training ground.
Grif, I know very little about Cambiasso and of he was purely linked to sign for you an not us I'd think ha anpther overpaid oldie looking for a las pay cheque. However purely my faith in Pearson makes it obvious to us Leicester gas that Cambiasso must have other motives (I think in the original mercury article it stayed he wanted a project) so on past experience this should be benefical to the young squad we have

QPR still have a generally old squad from last year so the addition of younger players like Caulker and Mutch has brought a much better balance to your squad so has fitted your needs.
Leicester on the other hand, we have a young squad who I believe will grow into a premier league quality side (if we can stay up this season I believe we'll go to a new level) so what we need to bridge the gap is an experienced head or two to guide the team and hopefully leave them in a year or two as an established too flight side.

We've never had a squad as expensive as yours was last year, even when we in the Prem all those years! That squad should have been pushing for Europe, not worrying about clubs like Derby and Brighton in the Championship play-offs. Sorry, but it can't be seen as anything but a failure I'm afraid.
And I'm not sure why you've brought us into it. I'm talking about Redknapp rather than your club. If you want to compare him to Pearson, well he's won two promotions with us and got us into two play-offs in four full seasons. So at his worst in the league, he still managed to get the same result as Redknapp with a much smaller budget (at least on the first occasion).
Regarding how long we've been out of the Prem, remember that at one point in the last decade, we had players turning out for free because we were broke, yet we still maintained a place in the same division as 'Arry's "successful" and highly paid superstars were in last year.

He'll definitely be your highest earner by some way. It would simply make no sense for Cambiasso to move to a bottom half club and not be paid well for it. It's not like he's a lifelong Leicester fan?
Fair point. I still object to these sort of signings for our sort of clubs on principle- but you're right in that it probably makes more sense for your squad right now than it would ours.
I've been one of the most vocal opponents to that signing. It's awful on the face of it, but during interviews I get the impression Caulker feels he wouldn't have signed if Rio wasn't here. So really I'm considering Rio's wages just an extra mill or two on top of the Caulker fee- with anything else he contributes a bonus.
Rio's looked alright in preseason in fairness though. He'd still probably do a better job than Wes..!

Yeah Rio Ferdinand did have quite abit of pace. About 5 years ago

Wingbacks in rectangular brackets. You realise Caulker used to be a top level domestic 400m runner before he went pro? you can't have seen much of him play if you think he's slow. Onouha was the fastest 100m running schoolboy in Britain- he was already faster at 16 than Vardy is now. I remember Schmiechel punting a long ball up field which Vardy managed to get onto, but I can't remember your attack "breezing past" us very often.

I assume you are referring to more recent days in the Sven era. It certainly did not apply to last season when Pearson spent very little.
