The general public sector strikes are all a load of bollocks. They are complaining about the same things we have to deal with in the private sector and we can't take action without fear of losing our jobs.

Public sector workers pay £1 into their pensions and the taxpayer pays in another £4

If they strike - sack them, there are plenty of unemployed out there to take their places.

So, because the private sector's getting squeezed due to the greed of your employers, everyone else should suffer too?

I'm public sector and don't agree with the strike at all. it's just going to make it worse. those vindictive sods in No 10 are desperate to have a fight with us - we shouldn't give them the opportunity as what's on the table now is the best we can hope for and if we don't take it we'll see it eroded even more.

The picket lines will be a craic though - i'm hoping for a decent punch up with colleagues I don't like.

All I want is for there to be equality between the 2 sectors. In terms of just salary, I work in IT Support in the private sector where the salary is 12000 to 15000. My friend does the same thing in the public sector where the salary is 18000 to 20000.

The public sector has Unions to protect their rights, they get all the bank holidays where I get none, they get more Annual Leave, if I take a sick day I getting a warning where a public sector worker doesn't.

If you work for a council for 35 or more years, you get to retire with a large lum sum and half your ending salary.

We will be lucky not to be killed by teenagers trying to steal our £10 per week.

First of all, in the vast majority of cases like for like salaries favour the private sector. For most public workers the pension was the one thing they could look forward to as a result of being paid less than their privately employed counterpart.

Secondly, you can still join a union if you're in the private sector.
