Perhaps not Sky, you would want a star wars protection system. You could just move over the Atlantic a bit and sit 50 miles of the Scottish west coast. We could call you Usestia and you would qualify for grants for the highland & islands.
What would Ted Lasso say if he was asked about Scottish independence? "Why would Scotland want to give up its independence?" "We fought to keep the south from seceding in 1960, and we'll fight to keep Scotland from seceding today!"
Day two of the new season and we have a managerial sacking already. Mark Robins leaves Huddersfield following yesterday's tonking by Bournemouth.
It's part of the job description now I think. Football Manager: To pick team, to establish playing methods etc etc, final part you WILL be sacked at some point. It carries little stigma for these Managers because it is literally par for the course. In fact getting the managers job at Chelsea is a career path opportunity. Raise you profile in weeks, receive millions of pounds, get the sack, move on with an enhanced CV and a vastly improved bank balance. Sack me! sack me!
That's ridiculous. How can you sack a manager after one game? I'd have banked on Jose Riga being the first out the door from Blackpool, as they don't even have enough players to fill the bench. Surprised he hasn't quit.
Our U18s played in a tournament against Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd at Chelsea's Cobham training ground over the last few days. They played one 70 minute game each day and won all three, beating the hosts 2-1 and the other two 2-0. Positive sign that we're still trying to progress at that level.
Thanks, PNP. Chelsky Tw*tter said the matches were "behind closed doors" , but only 45 mins. Now we know why.
This is the second season this tournament has been held at Cobham. Some clubs are very protective of their youth groups and go to great lengths to keep these things under the radar. We fielded a number of very young players in these games, so there won't be too much publicity from us over this success.
"Some clubs are very protective of their youth groups" A while ago you said you didn't rate the national U18 standard, so we shouldn't place too much stock in comparatively how well the Spurs U18s do. Is that still the case, or is the Academy getting its act together that this level ??
We have a number of good people at the club all working very hard to give the best possible opportunities for young players to come through the ranks. One of the reasons I expressed reservations about the standard, was because Spurs and other clubs are deliberately pushing younger players to play regularly at levels a couple of years above their age. This policy has its merits, but it also has its downsides, you take your choice. I know what I think and I also think some of the clubs recent decisions on under 21 football, fly in the opposite direction of the policy of recent seasons.
