    What a load of bollocks.

And lets not confuse the Eto of 4-5 years ago with the Eto of now.

I cannot see a single shred of logic in this, I've gotta be honest.

Great name to have on the teamsheet.

    About 2 1/2 years ago!

TBF he's probably still good enough to be worth a place on the team, but his demands would be huge and it smacks of the sort of short-termism we are hoping to ditch. Unless he willing to give it the beans for £30k a week or so, it's a no from me...

To be honest if you look at his figures at Chelsea last season a 1 in 3 player with 6 assists. For upwards of 100k a week in a team like Chelsea you'd expect more.

    That's my thoughts.

1 in 3 is the golden marker for a 'good' striker, 1 in 2 for a 'great'.

The lines are blurred of course, 1 in 3 ina team supplied by Oscar, Hazard, Schurrle etc is not that impressive in anyones book.

On Chelsea, why haven't we looked at Marin? Brilliant player who simple isn't needed at Chelsea.

If he's a lower 1 in 3 at Chelsea he'll be a ''Danny Graham'' with us.

This is the point. We have decent strikers, it's getting them chances that has been our problem. Et'o has no experience of grafting in a middling team...

It's a different game playing for a team like us, for sure, than Barca/Inter/Chelsea. Talk about stating obvious like...

Eto did make his name in a piss poor Mallorca side, but that we 12 years ago when he had the legs and energy.

I would rather use the money and get Wickham to sign on a 5 year deal

He's a big name and in his time a lovely player but the return on your investment may be lacking.
Could be a good shot in the arm commercially though with shirt sales, bums on seats etc.

We definitely need a striker IMO, we have 2 at the moment, one's a huge injury risk and the other may well be a flash in the pan. Eto'o is still a class, class player, I think if this comes off it'll be just what we need for a season or two

He is worth huge wages though, so if borini does not come back. Pay Eto £100,000 a week on a 2 year contract and that comes to £11,400,000 and he will get us about 25-35 goals over 2 seasons. We cannot rely on Whickham and Fletcher, and will Altidor get 2 goals next season!.

A player like this could ruin the team ethic in the dressing room

Say we recruit him on the astronomical wages he would demand. Then he starts missing training or not putting a shift in etc etc. it causes animosity and disillusionment among the other players who work hard, are dedicated to the club, and are paid less

    Invest in the future

The only reason I could see this happening is the African connection. We seem to be pushing for a big presence out there and this would certainly help. IMO his legs ae gone and he would only be good to come off the bench. They need to get Wickham signed up as he will be our no.1 striker next year IF he signs.

    There you go then.

I just don't understand at this point in his career why he would choose to come to a club that will inevitably 'struggle' compared to Chelsea, Inter, Barcelona. While he could be in the desert for a season earning a Sultans ransom on easy street.

Don't think he needs the bucks mate.

Remember, this was a lad who forced a move from Real to Mallorca in his early career cos he wanted to play.

Eto has always been a class act on & off the park, it just ain't the right point for us to be moving that way, I think it's admirable that he wants to stay at a good level.

He also went to play for Anxious ClaudeMakelele.

Did Becks need the money at LA Galaxy, did Drogba in China etc etc?

I just know that if I had such a great career, a draw full of CL medals, I'd want to milk the last few drops out. I know the best days are behind me, I have nowt to prove.

Quality player..if he scored 15 goals next season, that could be the difference between relegation battle and top half. With no fee to pay, even on on a big wedge, place money would cover the cost. I'm in if Gus is in.
I'd be really excited to see E'to up front, Giac one side, Johnson the other, with Rodwell and Catts in the middle. Perhaps just one ball playing centre mid short of awesome!!!!
