CM. He'll not compete with Wanyama but he'd probably be cover for Morgan, JWP, Davis, Cork et al. Maybe ahead of Cork. Yeah, we have a lot of CMs.
Whenever I've seen him, which is not a great deal, he has always looked a bit awkward (wooden) for a winger. Not quick but forcefully finds his way past people. Would be worried if he was being brought in to start. May be totally wrong and hope he proves me wrong if he does sign.
I agree, but it's not exactly a very strong position for us. I'm sure we'll bring in some other winger to start though.
Totally agree, he is as good as the others you mentioned and will allow us to rotate the players without a drop in quality, Which is where we struggled last season. Just hope we can have the same strength in defence this season.
Nah I'm not a Redmond fan at all, really. I'm hoping we bring in Ings, play him as a wide forward until Rodriguez is back (assuming he stays) and then have Ings compete with Pelle in the middle. Tadic on the other side, obviously.
Centre Half is where we need to strengthen. Fonte limping off with Cramp on Thursday scared me into thinking Yoshida & Hooiveld could be the two at Anfield. Would be good if we can get something done in this position this week.
For me we need to sign at least 2 centre backs. Hooiveld and Yoshida are not good enough. If either play you know we will concede goals.
I'm not entirely happy about this signing. Firstly, our midfield is still our strength and it would be a shame if WP's apparent progress was blocked as a result. Secondly, would we even have been looking at Taider if it weren't for the Osvaldo deal (same goes for the other Inter players we have been linked with)?
Is it really WP's progress you're worried about? Me suspects someone else might find his route blocked.
Probably not, but who cares? Osvaldo was a zero. Less than zero. Taider could work his way into the first team, but more likely just provide some depth and maybe play in some Cup matches, or at a minimum not punch a teammate in the face. Any of those is a plus over Osvaldo.
