Of course, and as I've said on other threads, I don't think anyone can really come out of this totally blameless. Cortese, Kat, Kruger, Les, Poch, players, **** even the FA aren't blameless in this scenario. There are no white and black hats. However I think there is clearly good intentions from some parties and bad ones from others that are quite easy to identify.

A quite perfect storm of clusterfuck.

I doubt it would be possible to bring this scenario about ever again, even if you tried really, really hard!

What Morgan has/hasn't been told from the time the new regime took over; whether negotiations beyond a simple bid had taken place with Tottenham over a sale; if they had happened, what stage said negotiations were at.

Oh it's undoubtedly a fiasco. A caper of quite unprecedented and marvelous complexity which may make a great book some day ("The Greatest Team That Never Was". That's trademarked by the way.)

But the good thing about your classic fiasco is there's usually a white hat who makes it out okay. They usually are altered, wounded or otherwise traumatised, but they get across the line in the end. When the window closes we'll get our blue line under everything and I'm fairly confident we'll be looking okay.

Until one of the players steps up and explains themselves, that's gonna be my assumption.

Even if that does happen, we can't really trust it. If Morgan wants to move and has agreed (I'm sure very substantial) terms with Spurs and has gone as far as to pitch a fit about not being sold, can we trust his comments as truth? I'd be taking them with an enormous dollop of sceptical sauce. We come back to it time and time again but really it is very hard to tell right now, too much misinformation (from all sides). We can only review much further down the line.

Posted on another thread, but seeing as Morgan is dominating proceedings here too

Sounds like he was promised a move last summer by Cortese

I really do feel this is going to be a case of ridding ourselves of certain individuals (in the playing staff), so that we can cultivate a new culture and environment, under Koeman.

Once we've got to that stage, we can start to see things settle and progress forwards again. But it's totally reliant on staying up this season.

I believe the board have good intentions for the club, but have ultimately been quite incompetent in places, not helped by certain characters who have left and some who still remain in our dressing room. Lots of politics, at current.

If this is all true then I'm sure he has it in writing and would be able to leverage it. However he also signed a new long-term contract last year so this doesn't quite add up to me.

Plus the fact that it's reported by someone who he is very close to and has not been announced or covered by any of the usual sources. Journalistic OR ITK.

I'd just like to point something out...

    Lallana
    Schneiderlin
    Chambers
    Shaw

All signed deals in the last 12-18 months and I've read in several places that they were 'promised' by Nicola they could have their move in 12 months' time, should one of the bigger clubs in this league come in for them. Now I don't really know the entirety of this situation, but it seems plausible for me. Maybe Nicola knew things were going to get rough (we know he had issues with Kat before that summer and also during that summer), so tied them over until now, knowing that he'd likely be out of the picture by then?

I guess we'll never really know, but it does seem quite plausible and is a suggestion I've heard in both the media and from those at SFC.

Well done the board on this matter. For all the slagging off towards Morgan, I'd just point one thing out. I think he has t been allowed to go because he is our best player. I hope he settles down and gets on with it. I hope Jose and Jos both helped him move his stuff and have a quiet word with him over the next few weeks. I hope the fans ignore that tweet, as bad as it was because we can then have a quality Morgan Schneiderlin in our team next season. What he posted is very wrong, but I actually hope he gets through this, the fans give him a chance to get through it and don't boo him, because I don't want that quality rotting in our reserves. I want him dictating games and taking us to win a game at Wembley when the other f**kers win nothing.

Of all the players rumoured to go or have gone, he is the real quality. We got him in the French World Cup squad and he's now on the radar. Yes Morgan, SFC got you your dream.

    Give him one chance, please.

I wouldn't automatically take MS's side of the story as truth. But pitching a fit on twitter implying you were mistreated without any explanation as to how is just lame. My respect for these guys is bordering on 0.

If he were to go public, I might actually believe him. Or I might believe a little of what he says and a little of what the club says. There's so much going on that is weird I'd probably have to give at least a little credence to any semi-plausible explanation. But even if I believe none of it, but I might decide that at least Schneiderlin though wrong genuinely believes it and is at least trying (mistakenly and misguidedly) to make things better. In any those events, I'd respect him more than now.

I mean, come on. If you really feel like you were horribly mistreated-- first by the club, and now by many fans-- wouldn't you at least try to defend yourself? If you don't, then my assumption is you have no defense.

The line I fear getting trotted out again here is the "Ambition" angle, as Lovren did. It's such a loose, nonsense point to make and only serves to say nothing at all and get people fired up against the club. I've seen many arguments about "Ambition" between people without two brain cells to rub together, when in this situation, ambition purely seems to be a synonym for "Money".

Yup. I've been saying that since January. Ambition=money.

And is he doing right for you? For me he is, but I have been saying this all along. You, on the other hand, yesterday were all like 'we shouldn't keep players who don't want to be here', so what changed there?

I'm only wondering why the board has't discovered their backbone a little earlier this summer.

Line has to drawn some where. Hopefully Morgan will knuckle down and continue how he played last season (I still have doubts he will). We have got rid of the worse offenders, some of the stuff I have been told happened made there no other choice. Now it's time to actually start spending cash and rebuild our squad with people that want to play for us. Yes this season will be hard, but I believe we will stay up. Hopefully both Jay and morgan are with us even if it is just for one more season to steady the ship.
