Even if it's the former: the dirty little secret is that everyone engages in tapping up. There was an article written by an agent (can't remember who) who stated that in most cases, teams contact agents to determine whether their client would be amenable -- and start working on terms -- before they even contact the club. So we're unlikely to take on Spurs, lest other teams take on us for the same.

Gastón wasn't one of Poch's favourites in the slightest, either. So obviously fine with coming back from World Cup duty and getting training.

At a game last season a mate of mine asked Gastón why he wasn't getting minutes and he genuinely replied with: "He don't like me."

After this window I know one thing for sure, my son will not idolise any player and certainly not get a name of one on his shirt.
That's probably why most clubs change kits every season, the names on the back are outdated.

I really rate him, he's looked very good from what I've seen in pre season and Koeman could be just the man to help him achieve the step from merely good to great. Anybody that pochettino didn't like has got to be a top bloke in my eyes.

Yeah I got that feeling. Probably didn't suit Poch's style too well. I'm surprised he didn't sell him in January to be honest, but I'd love him to be given a final chance this year. It really is make or break for him. We've seen glimmers of it, now I want to see the real Gaston Ramirez.

Ah, your obvious maverick tendency is showing there. Not a number, but a free man, and all that stuff. :)

Ultimately, Saints have FINALLY taken a stand. However, they've probably taken the stand with the wrong guy, truth be told.

Oh well. Battle lines drawn. :)

Let's face it, the only reason why JRod didn't throw a strop is that he needs Southampton FC more than we need him.

Would be dreadful PR too, to slag off the club who are still rehabilitating you.

And it is his birthday so he's probably off sleeping with a dozen high class hookers, all bathed in champagne... Or something!

I hope the club don't cave and let Morgan force his way out. Are we in for Clasie either way?

To be honest I'm less angry with Morgan and Adam than I am with Luke, Dejan and Calum. The former two have contributed massively to the rise of our club and are at the stage of their career where they want a crack at a higher level. They are certainly not the first players to do it, even the Sainted Mickey Channon moved on at one point. Dejan owed us more than just a year of his long contract and Luke and Calum have had the benefit of the club's excellent youth facilities and coaching and have barely repaid the club on the pitch.
