You're obviously far more 'up to speed' than I about them, Superman. What it does mean is that if they do want Leroy, they'll have to pay top dollar, as it's been widely reported how much Lallana, Lovren and Shaw went for, and any self-respecting CEO (like ours) will be aware of their bulging wallet.
Supers, I'm a lot older than you, I don't like bloody Koeman, he scored against England after he should have been sent off! Dirty bastard!
I am told on good authority that Fer is ' more than likely ' on his way to Southampton. Apparently the initial approach last week ended with the 2 Clubs far apart on valuation but they came back for further discussions over the weekend.
Whilst I'd rather he stayed at CR, I'd be happy for him to move to Saints and help plug the gap left by their stars moving on to further their careers. Supers - interesting what you say about Saints having a new 'crop' of stars waiting to take over from Llanna, Lambert etc. An interesting and exciting time ahead for Saints fans. Let's hope with having now attained 'Academy 1' status that we can get close to the talent that has been nurtured by the Saints academy setup!!
Ironically, dropping down a division could be of great benefit to the Murphy twins, Gafaiti, McGeehan, Loza etc. They're far more likely to feature against the likes of Brentford and Bournemouth, whereas if we were still in the Prem, they'd more than likely be playing in the second string. Must admit, the nearer the new season gets, the more I'm looking forward to it COYY!
Absolutely CC. I'd also like to see Morris either used in the Capital One Cup (or whatever it's called this year), or loaned out to a league 1 side to see if he can make the step up.
It would be a good sale for us as they will be able to move up on price a bit more, it will be a very good move for Fer and I think almost certainly a good one for Southampton.
i've long thought fer would leave this summer. i think saints would be a good move for him but we should only sell for an absolute minimum of £8m+ tonnes of add ons. we may not have seen the best of him but the potential is certainly there and lets be honest, if he were an english 24 year old with his ability, we'd be sticking a '1' in front of that 8 (as indeed saints themselves are all too aware of )
Wet Sham lining up £5m bid for Hooper. http://shoot.co.uk/west-ham-target-canaries-star/ I can't believe we'd be dumb enough to let him go for the same as we paid Celtic for him? Wise up big Sam and talk real dollar.
It's a joke other clubs think they can pay small amount for our players, don't know whether to be annoyed or laugh lol.
I bet McNally loves to just laugh down the phone every time Big Sam rings. If Fer does go, Saints is the ideal place for all involved.
Could be lazy jourtnalism re Fer and Hooper. Could be clubs using media pals to try to unsettle the player in question with a view to Fer/Hooper deciding they quite fancied a move back to the Prem and then trying to get out and NA having the choice of a disgruntled player not giving 100% or the club accepting a lower fee than we would all hope for. i honestly can't see us accepting £5m for Hooper or £8m for Fer unless the players really agitate for a move and then Saints will have to pay a price in line with their new found wealth. I thinik that any club Saints want to buy from is likely to add a premium to the price of sale simply because everyone knows how much cash they have got from the sale of their players. I was pleasantly surprised that Leroy got married in Norwich - if he didn't plan to stay I doubt he would have done so. If nothing else the city will now have a place in his heart and what a wonderful place to get married.
I can't help but think that there is now something of a "Southampton" premium. A bit like there is a "Brazil" premium or a general premium on British players in the Prem. Lallana and Lovren are both very classy footballers, but I'm not convinced that they're worth anything like that. I think Lovren will be more of a success personally
I think Liverpool seem to be struggling with persuading the really big players to join them despite champions league this year, they need real investment and a much larger squad to compete in Europe and the PL and now they've basically spent the Suarez money the squad looks a bit better but there best XI is probably worse. They really need top quality striker and CB and they've bought both from a team who finished several places below them, Lovren is promising but Lambert's best years are behind him. I can't see them repeating their season from last year, especially with the strength of Chelsea and Arsenal's summer signings. Will be fighting for 4th with United and Spurs i think, neither have to worry about a European campaign.
Wow, I see now spurs are on the verge of signing Jay Rodrigez and Morgan schniderlin from Saints as well. Saints will have no players left soon. They are making a packet though.
Excellent post Norfolkbhoy and I agree with your reasoning behind Fer opting to get married in Norwich - let's hope it's right and he stays to show us what he's really capable of!!!
