As I've got older, I've always found the best tactic to be getting rid of those things that I can, that otherwise I'd beat myself up about - for instance, smoking. The less things you have to criticise yourself about, the more comfortable getting older becomes.

Yep, that's the golden ticket for sure (and something I do think everyone should aspire to).

You can aspire to it, but remember most jobs are boring and someone has to do it. And not everyone has the talent/capability of anything else. And some people are happy to pay their bills with mundane jobs, but have rich private lives. Horses for courses may be a platitude, but is also true. Sammy Lee said on his appointment that he wouldn't call what he does work compared to what others have to do to make ends meet.

Good to hear, because for such a successful academy, we aren't as successful as you would think.

That's easily answered. The most promising of a particular age group get pushed up into the next age group. It makes the previous age group slightly weaker, by taking away a better player and possibly doesn't help the next age group up, but does help the individual player. For example, JWP and Shaw jumped two age groups at one point in their careers. Saints have been doing this forever and a day. It means that so many of our youngsters are just a toe-poke away from breaking through, once they are good enough to get to the higher squads. It also means that, team wise, we aren't quite as successful in those lower age groups, but we are progressing players. But it's all about individual development of players, not so much the results the teams have.
