I still hold out hope that one day messi will decide to test himself in the prem and we will be his destination
Sanchez down the middle would mean Cazorla or podolski on the left, that front line still has good balance for playing a lot of sides. Giroud of course gives us the height and size to be of a lot of use in winning the ball and also defending set pieces. Stick diaby on in the middle to solve that issue Campbell looks a solid player and I wouldn't be too annoyed if he gets some game time this season. I agree podolski hasn't always looked great down the middle, but he does score goals. He is my least preferred central option. Walcott looked really good when he got a chance to play centrally. He doesn't give us that big man up top option, but he is a lethal finisher and quick to get in behind the defence. We do have options if giroud is injured, better options than last season. But it'd still be nice to bring in a backup striker.
I would have loved Isco back when he was at Malaga but we don't need another attacking midfielder and he hasn't impressed at Real
I was desperate for us to sign isco as a replacement for rosicky. But with ozil and Cazorla I just can't see how he would get enough game time to be happy making the switch to us. I think he's a quality player but not sure we need his type of player right now in the team. Either of illarramendi or khedira would be a solid addition to our squad. In a position we could obviously do with improving. I rate di Maria really highly as well. I really hope utd don't get him as he will be a revelation. Has everything to succeed. Only way we would need him is if Sanchez was going to be playing a central role for us, in which case you can't get much better than di Maria to play the left wing.
I predict 3 more signings. Ospina, a CB to replace Vermaelen and a RB with Jenkinson leaving on loan. If Campbell leaves I suspect we'll try and get a striker on loan
Hearing talk that Arsene is going to 'trust' Jack with the anchor role in midfield - scares me a bit - too injury prone?
I wouldn't be surprised. Wenger has always rated Wilshere very highly. The problem with bringing in another DM is that it would certainly rule out the chance of Diaby getting any games. It would also lessen the time Zelalem gets on the pitch. I've said it many times but if Wilshere can stay fit he can become one of Europes best midfielders.
The coaching staff would know of Wilshere's injury's than anyone else. I do hope that he isn't going to be plagued with injuries later on as he is a fantastic player. However, if his body is struggling to stay fit, then we really should be looking to replace him with a solid addition such as Khedira or Bender. Also, I don't think Wilshere is the type of player we want playing in that anchoring position, he is more of an attacking mid, than a robust breakup player.
Exactly, I've seen him blown over by a gust of wind lately. He used to be stronger but his persistent injuries are taking its toll on him and he looks unbalanced. He would be the worst of all our midfielders to play in that defensive role. Wilshere needs to take a break and make a full recovery from whatever is plaguing him at the moment. Thankfully we have enough in the midfielders department to facilitate his full rehabilitation.
A midfield of Wilshere, Ramsey and Ozil will get bullied off the park. We need some defensive grit to go along with the skill.
I agree with the last few comments. I don't think Wilshere is the player to 'anchor' the midfield at the moment. He needs at least one season injury free before he can carry this midfield. The lad has bags of talent, but at the moment his body is not up to the job and I think it would be a mistake to rely on Wilshere in that role this season.
