I actually think our forward line is exciting and well balanced now. Giroud may not be the best finisher but Walcott and Sanchez are both capable of 20+ goals from wide positions. Add the 20 odd goals and hold up play we get from Giroud and it makes for a very promising attacking lineup. Without Giroud the side is too small and against teams that sit back and close down we will struggle. The french mans work rate and hold up play will make room for Alexis and Ozil to link up and exploit. I think Wenger knows exactly what he's doing here. With the addition of a top quality DM I honestly think we could win the league.
I can see it working quite well when Walcott and Sanchez play. But he will have to up his game playing with the likes of Sanchez, Walcott and Ozil. Any mistakes he makes up front will be amplified when playing with top quality players. His service will have to be consistently at a high level. The pressure will be on Giroud this season to deliver.
Problem is, you need to make sure Giroud, Sanchez and Walcott ALL stay fit for the season, an injury to any one of those three and your side is out of balance again. Plus Ramsey and Ozil aswell. If you can keep them fit you will definitely challenge with your first XI.
You should have gone in for Ba. We just sold him for £8m, surely would have been worth it at that price. EDIT: Actually scrub that, Jose likes trolling your manager so probably wouldn't have sold him to you guys.
Real now have these 11 players competing for 6 starting places: Khedira Modric Xabi Alonso Kroos Illaremendi Isco Bale Di Maria Ronaldo Rodriguez Benzema That's insane squad and takes me back to the days of Champ 01/02 where I'd hoover up every world class player under the sun and never play most of them. On the plus side, hopefully it means a few becoming available...
Liverpool set to seal Javier Manquillo transfer after hijacking Arsenal’s deal Liverpool look set to sign Atletico Madrid defender Javier Manquillo after hijacking Arsenal’s move for the Spain Under-20 star. Arsenal have been in talks with Atletico for the last two weeks over a deal for Manquillo, with the Gunners optimistic of agreeing a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal. However, AS reports that Liverpool have now moved in and look set to seal the signing of the 20-year-old in the next few days. The newspaper says that Manquillo was unsure of the amount of playing time he’d get at the Emirates Stadium and has been persuaded by Brendan Rodgers that his future is with the Reds instead. He has now set his heart on a switch to Anfield and Liverpool are working to finalise terms with Atletico. Arsenal have already turned their attention elsewhere, with Catania star Gino Peruzzi now firmly in Arsene Wenger’s sights. Mmmm any truth to Liverpool hijacking the bid? Also are we still in for this guy?
It was being reported last week that we no longer had any interest in Manquillo hence Wenger saying that Jenkinson would be fighting for the RB slot with Debuchy.
Fair enough. It looks like Wenger has faith in Jenks hence he's keeping him another year. Hope this Spanish guy doesn't end up being really good...
lol it is funny how Southampton and Atletico Madrid's squads have been raped in the summer. Maybe they should merge whats left of the two squads to make one squad, I mean, they already play in the same colours!
For **** sake, apparently messi wants to join us, http://www.givemesport.com/487873-lionel-messi-was-interested-in-arsenal-switch This give me sport website is the king og the WUMS, yesterday they were calling for wenger to be sacked, today the headline was 'wenger is a genius' lol
Now that Real Madrid have signed Rodriguez and Kroos, I think there's a chance that we'll see Isco and Khedira moving on
Sanchez - bringing him into the middle would disrupt the balance Bear was describing Campbell - unproven and represents a potential liability that we don't need in an increasingly competitive league. Podolski - hasn't been very effective when he has played there, again potentially damaging to our season, especially if we had to rely on him in important matches. Walcott - same concerns as Podolski. The obvious solution is to buy a top quality, proven out and out striker to compete with Giroud so that we don't have to rely on inexperienced youngsters or play people out of position. Anything else reeks of 'making do' yet again.
