Possibly Miguel may get a place in the squad this season

I agree.
So many people think that the only way to create a good team is to buy players, we have the best academy/youth infrastructure in the country, probably the world, and AW has to ensure that opportunities exist for these players if he considers them good enough.

Who was the last player to come through Chelsea's youth system ?
Chequebook problem solving isn't forward planning.....

Our youth structure has been a massive disappointment over the last fee years so much so that our academy nearly lost it's elite status.

Disappointmnet yes but the infrastructure is there.
I heard horror stories last year that some of the parents of the -16 and -17 players were calling the shots, there was a clearout which will help

You have to laugh at Maureen's latest failed attempt to try and play mind games. He's now claiming that he persuaded Fabregas to join Chelsea and reject Arsenal, when Fabregas had already said that Wenger had told him that there would be no place for him at Arsenal.

Poor old Moany one, trying to get a dig in early and totally ****ing it up <laugh>

Was going to start a thread on this after reading the Sun. Find it really galling, especially after the voyeur jibes. Who is the one obsessed now <whistle>

He was asked about it in a press conference ... he didn't go out of his way to talk about Arsenal.

Didn't stop him from spouting complete bollocks about the cesc transfer though.
He's definitely got a chip on his shoulder about Arsenal.

I wouldn't mind Rambo being captain after Arteta, Verm, and BFG at all. The armband suits him.

It is more about him hating wenger, that arsenal, the main reason being that wengers place in English football history is assured, he will always be regarded as a man who changed the English game forever. In 50 years time he will be remembered fondly and still talked about.

Jose on the other hand will always be remembered as the man who spent some Russian gangsters money to buy a few titles, or went to clubs like inter at the right time when his rivals were suffering from the match fixing scandal and has to sell their best players to inter as they had no choice, and even then still couldn't build a team that entertained. Even if jose goes on to will a lot more titles, that's the way he will always be remembered by history, a man who bought most of his titles. That's what really grates on jose, knowing that wenger will always be remembered more fondly that him.

You can tell this is the case by some of the things he has said in the past, even when he has not been managing in England, he still talked about how he couldn't understand why wenger was still so revered despite not winning anything. It really grates on him, that wenger is still held in higher regard than him.

Sounds like you might be falling for the media spin, trying to fill their pages with crap in the off-season.

The journalist asked how easy was it to sign Cesc. He says it was easy (which of course he's going to say, because why would he ever say "It was really hard because he wanted to go to Arsenal instead"?). Papers all run headline "MOURINHO WINDS UP ARSENAL BY SLAGGING THEM OFF OMG!!!"

Come on. We don't really have to fall for media ****-stirring tactics, do we?

I deal with direct quotes, not media spin.

“I think he really wanted to come to us. As you know Arsenal had an option where they could interfere but I think he was not open to that. He was very much in our direction. It was an easy job for me.”

This simply isn't true, Fabregas said himself that Wenger told him that he would not be able to accommodate him in our team, because Ozil had taken his position.

"When I decided that my time at Barcelona had ended, I looked for the best option for me," Fabregas said. "Arsenal was the first option, for contractual reasons. There was a clause that gave them the right to decide.
"We spoke to Wenger and he said that the space was very well filled by Mesut Ozil and it was hard to find a place for both of us in the team."
It was only after it became clear Fabregas would be unable to return to Arsenal that Jose Mourinho convinced him to move to Chelsea.

Mourinho is disingenuous at best and that's being kind to the bullshitter.

Or it could mean that Fabregas fed Mourinho lines about being interested. Because why would you say "I don't really want to join you guys, I want to join your arch-enemies, but I'll join if they turn me down yeah?"

All I'm saying is ... this has media spin written all over it. They're looking for a story, and Mourinho didn't say anything that isn't an obvious respond to the question that was asked. What exactly would you expect Mourinho to say ... "He doesn't really want to be here, he wanted to be with Arsenal"? That'd endear him to the Chelsea fans.

Don't fall for it. This is a nothing story.

There is a rumour that Corinthians are willing to sell Alexandre Pato for 8m. He's suffered with injures, but would you have him at Arsenal ?

Either way, whether it was Cesc or Mourinho, it's disingenuous. He didn't want to join Chelsea in the first instance, he wanted to come back to Arsenal and was told that he wouldn't have a place in our team, subsequently he joined Chelsea.

Don't forget that Mourinho didn't originaly want to return to the second choice Chavs. He had his heart set on replacing Fergie. He only decided to rejoin the second choice Chavs when Man Utd f**ked him off.At least Fabregas & Mourinho have something in common, the second choice Chavs were their second choice <whistle>

So far second rate Mourinho's second coming at second choice Chavs has been a second rate specialism in failure
