if you watch him hucks you'll see that gruffnuts is absolutely correct. he is a lazy player. he comes alive when the ball arrives in the box and there's nothing wrong with that (he is clinical) if you supply him with the ammunition he needs but you'll get nothing else from him and when things are going against him he hides. its 'not just him' saying it because many others who have watched him notice his work rate, or rather lack of it. this is probably the main reason why no premier league team has taken a chance on him. he's certainly not worth anything like the money being bandied about. £5m tops. have to also disagree about his movement - its not as good as you'd think. rvw has outstanding movement and plays a similar role to rhodes and is a much better player. we've already got him - play him!

Sounds like a description of Gary Lineker, probably the best striker England has ever produced. Think I'd be happy with him in my side regardless of what he might lack in terms of running around looking busy.

lets get it straight - he is not as good as lineker was! similar style though. but the point is, do we have the players already here to give him the right service that he requires or would we need to buy a few more? for me, its the latter of the two. suddenly the overall price of signing him becomes overwhelming.

I've seen him play plenty thanks. I respect your views a lot Supers but you can't dismiss someone as knowing nothing on a subject just because their opinion is different to yours.

I'm not saying he's the most hardworking player on the planet, and never did I suggest that his movement is as good as van Wolfswinkel's - who should thrive in the Championship on paper - but his movement is still very good IMO and I've seen him absolutely busting a gut to get in front of defenders for the ball on many occasions. What others see as lazy I simply see as playing a role in the team. Yes he could do more but that's not what he's asked to do. And of course he goes missing when his team isn't playing well - so does almost every striker in the world when they're playing in the opposite half of the pitch to the ball.

And £6 M is FAR too cheap! At least double that!

Agree. If we don't need to sell as we're constantly being told why would we sell our most promising young player for just £6m? It's hard because we don't know how good he's going to turn out but I'd be reluctant to accept less that £10m.

Me too, squire, but don't forget he came here on the proviso of having worked with Hughton at Birmaingham :emoticon-0112-wonde

I agree with Supers that it'd be much better to hang on to both RvW and Hooper than to sign Rhodes.

I wouldnt use the word lazy, but he is no grant holt, and agreed, in a similar mould to a linekar with approximately half the talent... that said, i'm not sure that linekar would have been all that had he been born 20 years later - just think football is a different game these days - and much more of a team game - and you might get alot out of him goal wise, but that has to be balanced with what you lose by having him in the team. It can be done. But i'm not sure that NA in his debut season is the man to try.

For all his goals over the past 4/5 seasons - how many premier league teams have come in for him? It's not because they are worried he doesn't know where the goal is, is it?

Relax, wolfie's got this...(i wonder what odds he's got to be top scorer this year)...

on a seperate subject - redmond is an absolute must keep. no two ways about it for me. i'd not even blink until we were talking double what snodgrass went for...

Good point, well made. I agree absolutely that he does little for the team when without the ball but that's not down to attitude for me.

I, also, would much rather we kept Ricky and Hooper. <ok>

I watched most of the England U21 games that Redmond played in and he was the best player on the pitch, i would be shocked if he doesn`t end up going to the next Euro 2016.
If we sell him i will be bitterly disappointed with the ambition of Norwich city .

If Ross Bloody McCormack is worth £11m we should hold out for at least £15m for Redmond! He is a star of the future! If we were Southampton, we'd be askimg for that! Just look at Chamberlain and Wallcott. I think he will stay though. He knows he will get game time here, especially now Snoddy has gone.

As for Rhodes, whilst he is a goal machine, i agree that there is no point buying him unless we have the right set up/players to get him service. We have two very capable goalscorers in Hoops and RvW and our trouble was not playing to their strengths. If we keep them we need to sort the service. If we sell and get Rhodes...same issue lol

Agree SN23, though I will be less disappointed if we get a decent sum for him. As I just said and in conjunction with what you said about him being a future England player, id be seriously upset if we got less than £15m for him and didnt have some sort of sell on clause as well.

Agree about Redmond, Saints need to be told no way unless they want to spend 13M+. I expect him to be very high in Adam's plans so Adams is unlikely to want to let him go. Can't believe the press seem to think we'd let our most promising player go for less than Snoddy!

Totally agree about keeping Redmond - this year will be a real chance for him to push on and develop his game. As for Rhodes, I wonder if he was embarrassed about no offers coming in from PL teams.
