That's ok mate. You can do me a favour and PM Beddytare in Georgia, USA about latest Saints news, as he has lousy internet acces and just about gets on here for updates.

I agree about the size of the Inbox, it doesn't seem logical, especially, dare I say it, for mods.

By the way, our friend last night who brb very kindly banned for us wasn't Banana, in case you were wondering, but our old friend Jaytab. He'd been winding up the Liverpool board as well.

Why? Plenty of the teams have graduate programmes. Go for it - you just never know, and it's better to try at this stage. Write to the heads of engineering and offer yourself for a bit of work experience. Ask them in a well written letter if you could come in to shadow one of the engineers for the day - that kind of thing will work wonders. Even if you ask for five minutes of their time to chat through the best way of getting into the industry. Unfortunately my contact at McLaren on the engineering side is long gone (Steve Hallam) but if you want to run any letters by me than more than happy to help if I can. I know some of the aerodynamicists at Red Bull, and was even offered a job by Christian Horner when he was at Arden.

Try the GP2 and GP3 teams too.

Seriously, that's one of my BIGGEST regrets, not recognising that I could work in an industry I loved until I was about 30 or so. Go for it now, start making those inquiries.

I think most of the F1 teams will be after First Class degrees, but I would definitely still consider going into something like Le Mans or whatever. Because once you start getting experience, that begins to become more important than your degree results. We shall see!

That may well be true, so make up the difference through your enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Yes, definitely try the sportscar teams too.
 
What's the job market for engineering grads like right now? When I was at uni it was one of the best degrees to get in terms of getting a job afterwards, and one of my mates who did aerospace engineering went straight into a job. But since then it's been a very popular track, so maybe it's now over-subscribed?

Well the figure I've been told is that well over 90% of engineering graduates from Loughborough have a job in industry within 6 months. It's still pretty high in demand like, and it's still not a large course compared to others. For example, my year for Automotive Engineering, we had barely 70 students on the course. That said, we shared a number of modules with the Aerospace lot, which was another 70 on top of that.

A big well done Conor. There are loads of vacancies in almost all engineering disciplines and an automotive engineering degree is transferable to many other applications as well. Good luck in your search for a opening somewhere.
