Well said, the BBC have adopted Glasto as their own and are wasting monumental amounts of taxpayer's money on their overkill. I read somewhere there's more of their staff there than any other outside broadcast they cover. Based on the fact that independent financed channels normally broadcast using an equivalent 10% of the BBC's staff I dread to think how many Beeb staff are enjoying their 'jolly'. What started as a great festival idea has long since been commercialised to the max and bears no resemblance to the original...
Well I for one delight in the blanket coverage of Glastonbury and will watch it all weekend. Well done BBC.
This year there has actually been less coverage than in previous years on the BBC. Part of my enjoyment of it is 'discovering' up and coming bands in a live environment. I really liked the Crystal Fighters set. Will try and post up a link
I love the Glastonbury coverage. I just don't get Arcade Fire though, their frontman has such a powerless voice. I thought the Pixies were awesome last night. Anyway, far rather see hours of music on telly than the dreadful, waste of life that is cricket which infects hours of license fee time most summers.
Arcade Fire are very much in the Talking Heads / Flaming Lips category for me. Missed the Pixies last night so hoping to catch a rerun of that later. Kim Deal didnt join them??
I enjoy bits of the Glastonbury coverage, though I suspect I'd hate being there. Bands are meant to be seen in clubs. Good for the BBC, they are meant to cover things that not everyone likes. Pixies were great, and my 5 minutes of Metallica confirmed that decades of avoiding them and their ilk were wisely invested.
Their ilk, especially for Stanley.
There's a surprise, Strolls. Personally I'd rather fasten my John Thomas to a workbench with a rusty nail.
I also thought Arcade Fire were rather insipid. As for cricket, the BBC hasn't covered it for years, which I think is a shame. It was this that drove me into the hands of Murdoch. I really only have Sky Sports for the cricket coverage.
My only dissapiontment was Metallica not playing the smooth version of Enter the Sandman that the crowd at Wembley were treated to in this video!
Here. Here. I'm with you Stroller. Enjoying the coverage. Gutted they didn't have Hozier on. But has been some good new bands on - John Peel tent has had some good stuff.
Someone said Aphex Twin played under his monicker AFX. Can anyone confirm this? (or does anyone else care!)
You already know us fellow QPR fans are a caring bunch. Apparently so. Aphex Twin made a rare, and unannounced, appearance at the Common in the early hours. If you scroll the page halfway down in this link you will find some info about it. http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/jun/28/glastonbury-2014-saturday-liveblog
Very funny, worth a listen.
