*Sigh* I don't think anyone sees you as being a WUM. It's just frustrating when other teams fans come on and try and tell us about our players or our club, having likely seen them about twice on Match of the Day or something. It was precisely that reason that on your board I attempted to tell some of your fans what to expect, and what potential, Pochettino had. I was surprised at the lack of knowledge in what they were getting, so I thought I'd offer my informed opinion, having seen every Saints game this season (though admittedly not all live).

That was generally appreciated by your board, as understandably they hadn't had that depth of knowledge. Just like you don't about Southampton, despite your odd proclamations to the contrary. However, it's irritating when people start telling us things about ourselves, when in reality, they really aren't in a position to do so.

    Capiche?

Just before I Vanish. Quickly my taxi is waiting. Meter running. You also have to understand your knowledge of any saints player or manager is based around their performance at your club. When you have followed a club like spurs or any bigger club (and that's not a wum) you quickly realise that what a player or manager has achieved (or shown) before doesn't always carry across and most of the time is a failure. No one disputed you had a understanding of Pochettino but also accept he isn't proven at the level he's moving into and if he's a failure then I doubt you will be on the spurs board telling us he's a gem. You will likely be grining in silence!

I think that we may have had the best out of Lallana (and Rickie). Players and managers come and go - the constant is the club and us, the supporters. COYS.

I could have told you Bale would do alright. Given a chance, so will Poch. But that's to be seen. It's opinion. Just sometimes, other people's are more informed. If Vertonghen was coming to Saints, I wouldn't be on the Spurs board trying to tell you about him and his various qualities, or lack thereof.

I knew Bale would be a success and saw that from his first game under Jol. You don't need to be supporting a club to have followed a player throughout his career to have a opinion that is proven valid . I predicted Tony Pulis would save Palace and fix them but Stoke fans weren't so kind, their informed opinion didn't stand true. Managers often have variable success so we will see if Pochettino is this gem but if not, I'm sure there will be excuses at the ready.

  6. I know with me being a Liverpool fan I'm probably not the most welcome on these boards at the minute but I genuinely feel sorry for you guys. As partially expected, your team is getting ripped to shreds with the loss of Lambert, Shaw and probably Lallana, Lovren and Schneiderlin likely to follow. Although you will have a £100m war chest for the new manager to rebuild, that's one hell of a loss you'll have to deal with (assuming they all go).

As I said, genuinely feel sorry for you guys and I seriously don;t mean that to be patronising. I like Southampton and you played some tremendous football last year. shame you couldn't topple Man Utd mind <laugh>

    Good luck fella's <ok>

Sometimes they just need to realise that any post under certain circumstances will come across as a WUM. Hopefully he'll just keep his distance now.

Returning to the OP, Adam did stick with us when he could certainly have pushed for a move when he was in League one, but he didn't. The main problem is the sheer pace of the improvement he has shown. Saints progressed rapidly, Adam even faster.
His performances season before last were good but nobody was seriously talking about an imminent England call up then, I suppose it was only half way through last season when he forced his way into contention and only towards the end of the season that he was talked of as an England first 11 player. He is 26 years old and although we all knew how good he was it took the world this long to discover him.
He was given the Captaincy and signed a long term contract, which had he known how rapidly he would progress, he would have declined. I am not thrilled to see him going but I absolutely understand his desire to play at the highest level. I see the situation as similar to Oxo except at a higher standard, and with less time available. Would anyone boo Oxo when he returns to SMS? Things are raw tonight but in time we will see that we got a fair price and have a different perspective.

Channon, we got a fair price but I don't think I'll quickly start thinking Adam handled this right. He hasn't.

Alright then, how could he have handled it differently? Had he submitted a transfer request, would that have been handling it better? Shaw has has all the advantages of a great Academy and has got a lucrative move aged 18, first opportunity. Adam has been offered the chance of Champions League footy and such is the pace of his progress he found himself signing a contract and accepting the Captains armband at the beginning of a season and then has to go through an awards evening when it is already clear to him that his future lies elsewhere. What is he supposed to do? Thanks for the awards but just so you know, I am off to Liverpool shortly? It's all happened so quickly and if he had left at the end of next season people would be a little less excitable. I thank him for staying when we were bust and hate to see him go but wish him well. He will never bad mouth Saints. Hopefully we will learn to accept his decision and move on.

I'm not sure about all your post to be honest. The Shaw bit has thrown me... Adam had a very good academy benefit too. Are you saying that it is the big opportunity that has arrived for him now and so he has to take it? Genuinely not quite grasped your message; sorry.

Won't be thanking, or wishing luck, to a player who openly said he'd be happy to finish his career here, who then pushed into the england squad, was tapped up, head turned and suddenly ****ed off at the first opportunity, disrespectfully as well.

    **** off Adam.
