Yip
no way is he worth that. there is a lot of interest in the lad though so he will go for top dollar. i suppose if they get 10 years out of him it would be worth it
Fair point
Well I think that's a fair price for a proven international with years of Premier League experience.

Sadly Shaw is neither of those things, it's crazy especially when United need midfield & attacking players.

If SAF was about to spend this type of dosh you would be inclined to think hmmmmmmm but lvg, can see another one biting the dust here

I wonder what he'll get a week? Hope he doesn't lose his desire, great potential but massive over night reward & pressure.

Be at least fellaini money i would imagine, reputed £100k pw

Probs get rio's outgoing salary tbf for that sort of fee, raphael isnt man u standard, i'd take him for us like

TBH nowadays its not about how much the player is worth about abillity wise its about testing the resolve of the other club into selling them, with the ammount of money in the epl now, clubs wont be tempted by the 10mil offers for players who are young and have potential as they might aswell keep them cause they can afford to with the big tv money, southampton are just seeing how much they want shaw my guess they would keep upping the price till man u said nah hes not worht that much to us and then go back the nearest offer they had to get the most money, and tbh 34 mil over 10 years or so if they keep him that long is a good investment if he progresses at the rate people expect him to, the same with henderson at the time your thinking thats alot of money thank you liverpool but 24 mil and they keep him for 10 years is only 2.4 mil a season which doesnt matter alot to the big clubs and is worth it!

If the club are willing to spend that amount of money then fine, but it's way over what he is worth, personally think he's average with a handful of good games

Manchester United have signed Southampton left-back Luke Shaw for a fee in excess of £30m.

The 18-year-old has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford having secured the move after returning from World Cup duty with England on Wednesday.

United had an initial bid of £27m for Shaw turned down at the end of last season but have now sealed the deal.

The teenager, who made a single appearance in the World Cup, joins Ander Herrera in moving to Manchester; the midfielder is moving on a four-year contract from Athletic Bilbao and for a fee of £28m.

Veteran Patrice Evra signed a one-year contract extension in May but United had been keen to secure a long-term replacement for the Frenchman, especially after Alex Buttner agreed to join Dinamo Moscow earlier this week.

Shaw, who becomes the world’s most expensive teenager as a result of the transfer, made his Southampton debut as a 16-year-old in January 2012.

He has played 60 Premier League games for Saints and earned his first England call-up for the friendly against Denmark in March.

Roy Hodgson selected Shaw ahead of Ashley Cole for England’s World Cup squad, but he only made one appearance - in the final game against Costa Rica.

there you go done and dusted southampton are going to be loaded this season but will need to spend big to replace what they have lost if they also allow others to leave

Wow!! The worlds most expensive teenager - not much on the lads shoulders - hope he lives up to it i genuinly do

Could be their first choice left back for the next 15 years easily, as well as England's so not overpriced for me.

When he played at Sol season before last I thought he was exceptional.

Or he could lose form, lose confidence, get injured....daft money IMO.

Lallana to Liverpool is close as well.
Southampton are gonna be down to the bare bones and will have a huge rebuilding project on their hands.
Not ideal for their new manager.
