Do you know better than Steve Bruce then?, let the experts do their job.

I am an expert.

We've signed two players who will not improve the team. Splodgeass has a poor assist & cross record, especially for a winger. He had 66% less assists last season compared to the previous. He has just entered the last year of his contract after being relegated, he's no better than Brady & £8m was way over the odds.

Is that down to the players around him not playing as well? He was crossing the ball to Wolfswinkel <laugh>. Take a quick look on twitter and you will see the Norwich fans love him and say he is brilliant.

He averaged 2 crosses/game that has nothing to do with Van Smallwinkel, maybe Van Smallwinkel would have scored more if Splodgeass had provided more.

I will judge any new signing after iv seen the playing a dozen games for the club.

I thought prozzie was a good signing

Doh

Wasn't sure about Curtis Davies

Doh doh

Twt as tickler would say

You're wrong about this one Ben, I think Snodgrass is a bit of a dick, but I'd rather he was playing for us than against us.

He gets goals, he gets assists, he winds other teams up, but most importantly, he's excellent at set pieces, an area where we are currently dire.

He's not worth £8m, but we're definitely a better team with him in it.

Snoddy is a very good player! We've paid over the odds if it is 8 mil, but if we're mid table come Xmas and he's played well for us then it would be well spent! I wouldn't want him going to a rival, he was the stand out for me away to Norwich ( even if he did take the piss right in front of me when I was calling him white scum ) all forgotten now :embarrassed:

Not currently (or at least reported). Oddly, he's in our new kit promotional video.

I see a lot of you saying £6m is the upper limit of what you'd hope to spend. Must admit, I was expecting us to accept something around this, as Snodders is in the last year of his contract. If he had two years or more, though, trust me he is worth a lot more. He was awesome in his first season. He had a slow start to this season because of a number of injuries, but he was by far and away our best player in the second half (admittedly there weren't many candidates...) He gives his absolute all every match and his delivery is absolutely quality. He created the second highest number of chances in the Premier League in 12-13 (to Leighton Baines) and I believe, despite missing parts of 13-14 season, he was up there again this past year. Admittedly he is not quick, but yet he consistently beats his man one-on-one. He also chips in plenty of goals, not just from free kicks. And of course he's still only 26.

The only real issue with him is that he is limited to playing one way effectively - inverted winger on the right hand side. He is brilliant at that role and I would have no hesitation in describing him as a slow Arjen Robben. But anything else (even in the number 10 role) and he becomes a bit anonymous. The problem with his lack of pace is that then you have to have the whole team playing his system - pacy counter-attacks are out... When all's going well, that's fine, but when your backs are against the wall (as ours were for much of the season) it did stifle us a little bit when our passing and movement became slow and crap. But he's just so effective it's impossible to leave him out. I actually think he might be most dangerous in Europe, on his style of play.

So, personally, I'm not surprised he's gathered significant interest from the Prem because he is definitely that class (probably helped by his contract...) And I would absolutely love to keep him in the Championship because he will be incredibly effective and probably the best player at that level, but I think he deserves to continue at Premier League level. But it will be interesting, if he does leave, to see how his new manager incorporates him into the team and whether it affects style quite as much as it seemed to ours.

I can understand the interest in pace, so don't get me wrong I realise why some of you might be a bit hesitant, but a pacy, classy, consistent winger who delivers a good cross, beats his man and can pass crisply hardly comes cheap... In fact will probably be targeted by the richest. So you have to forgo at least one of the attributes and I can safely say with Snodders it's really only his pace (maybe his passing needs improving).

Ben

Not sure where your 'assist' stats come from - see above from a Norwich fan.
