Van Gaal is preparing for life at Man Utd by whinging about the schedule and the officials. As for the Mutant Brits, all they had to do was hang on to the lead for another ten seconds and the world would once again be treated to the glorious sight of Cristiano Ronaldo bawling his eyes out. But no, they had to ruin it for everyone by conceding a late goal, didn't they?
If the game is drawn at say 80 minutes then I could see both teams easing off but I can't see either actually playing as if they fixed a draw, But if they do, we will be able to see by how the players approach the game and if they fix the game it will come back to haunt them. Didn't West Germany do a similar pact in 1982? They lost the final to Italy as justice! World Cup Tales: The Shame Of Gijon, 1982: http://twohundredpercent.net/?p=6088
"Yea, what the hell is Strachan doing there!" Judging by the HT panel now, they are not listening to us.
they done it with Austria once, when they both needed a draw to go through from the group stages,it was a 0-0 draw
I kinda like Ghana as well, so I'd rather the US and Ghana go through, which could happen, though it's not at all likely. My guess is that nobody in the history of the world cup has cost their team a berth in the knockout rounds so late and so egregiously. After giving away another goal previously by hitting the defender standing in an open goal, we can expect a hat trick of goals for Germany from him next day. He was also putrid against Ghana. The funny thing is, up until this world cup he's been on the two or three best US players. But he came down with a tragic case of Rooney-itis.
The ref for Holland/Chile has been yet another reason FIFA should stop appointing referees as if the World Cup was a school sports day. It's one thing to be an inclusive tournament, but when the refs from Japan, Columbia, El Salvador and Gambia are clearly below standard they shouldn't be appointed in the first place.
Bradley got the ball and I yelled at the screen "Kick it out of bounds!," but he acted as if he didn't hear me.
Sorry my friend but I was getting desperate. I thought it was over and to make matters even worse, it was Dempsey, the player I spent a year slating, He nearly wrecked the African Dream (for Ghana)! Ghana are just brilliant, from their style, to celebrations, entertainment and they create great world cup moments. Its a long shot but Portugal are on -4 goal difference so they have to come out and attack, Ghana have to win and that leaves USA V Germany. I will never forgive Klinsmann if he does a "deal" with his buddy and former assistant and great friend, Low!
Yeah, I know how it is. I'd managed to avoid getting wrapped up in the game till the US came back. Even then I ended up not so much heartbroken at the US blowing it as flabbergasted that any player could have done what Bradley did. Meanwhile Chile lost, but it's entirely unclear if that will help them or hurt them.
He's brilliant. Sure hoping the US stay in the World Series of Soccer a tad longer so we can enjoy some more gems from him.
LDL loves soccerguy (so do I) . But the World Series of Soccer is distracting him from the real business of the Franchise Enhancement window.
It's a shame one of them has to go home ...not least because Croatia should've been 2-1 up against Brazil.
