Don't we all! If you take the money he earned after tax from Manchester City (even without any dodgy tax schemes) and take off living expenses he would still be able to get about half a million a year just by investing it in practically risk free investments. Add on the money he saves from his time at Everton and from now until retirement and you can see him having an income of about a million a year after he retires without having to get out of bed. I know that people go on about the money that footballers earn but when you actually calculate it it's even more shocking.
If have taken Dawson over lescott a week ago, if lescott goges to WBA and we get Dawson we've got the better player
there is no doubting Lescotts ability and its great that Bruce can even have these negotiations as a City manager , but im not massively concerned that we seem to be out of the running for this . I'd rather see us push for players that seemed equally unlikely , players like Bertrand , Ince and Rose , Along with the likes of Livermore , Husband and Maguire .
Except that he has a good relationship with the new WBA manager and has already indicated money isn't a big part in which club he chooses since he was willing to halve his wages..
I agree. I am worried that we will mess around about the fee and let Crystal Palace in. The fee Tottenham want is certainly high but given the way he has fitted into the team and squad he will be very difficult to replace.
Disappointed in this as would have shown a measure of our intent. We move on, there are other players available that will improve our first XI
Would of been a great signing, but oh well. But we lost out on two things we couldn't compete on. Location and his relationship with the manager.
Getting both Dawson and Livermore now should be the TOP priority imo. Looking from afar at what is going on @ Spurs now i am very hopeful. For info, Spurs have let coach Les Ferdinand and youth coach Chris Ramsey leave the club. The Pocchetino revolution is gaining pace. That is how it goes. The player has gone back to his roots and we now move on as is life within football.
Relieved he's out of the picture. A shadow of the player he once was (as WBA will soon learn) and ridiculously overpaid and overpriced. Dawson is far better value and 4 mill. would be a real bargain. Also he is a player who gives 100% like Curtis and Chessie and would fit in well with the team. Also has a real connection to the club through Andy. Great deal if we can sign him and Jake. If we miss out Williams or Fonte would be good second choices
He can go and struggle with them next season to remain in the league. They only reason they stayed up was because of how awful the three teams that went were.
He must really rate Irvine or just want to live near his hometown cos if i was im I'd have hung on and waited for a better offer than the Baggies
I think location probably played a large part, if he thinks this is his last deal, he was probably keen to settle back home.
Over the years Hull City seem to have a thing about going after has beens, this is just another one so we move on. The last one I remember was Bill Baxter from Ipswich a tough competitor in his day but slow when he came to us but would Deano be classed as past it when he came home? He scored that cracker at Wembley so maybe not, I can't remember how old he was when he came 'home'.
