No one is denying the existence of institutional racism though...people are disagreeing that ashley cole has been treated in a racist manner by not being part of the england squad
I can't believe this thread has lasted 3 pages! Cashley has been dropped because he barely featured for Chelsea and because Baines had a fantastic season. End of. F*ck me what a lot of ballbags I've just read...
Ashley cole is just the tip of the iceberg. how many other black players were not selected. This is an outrage, storm parliament, burn everything...PANIC
How do you know this is the case? There is as much chance the FA told Roy not to take Cole. As far as I know the FA employ Roy and when it comes to the crunch Roy will always do what he is told. Which is why I can't really blame Roy.
If you're English, i bet you're wishing the FA was racist now, just so Welbeck never gets picked again...
I can see how you are trying to simplify the situation Colin, 'maybe that's just how it is' type attitude is always a safe bet to avoid any unearthing of something rotten in the ranks, I tend to analyse situations I see as odd. The truth is it's not odd to you because our view points are different. Nothing wrong with that. As for evidence you ask to prove Coles exclusion is down to race is really a waste of time because we both know that can't be proven and that is the beauty/ugliness of it all (delete where necessary)
Kyle on a serious note. My point has never been about the amount of black players in the England squad it's about quality of players and proven winners regardless of age but dependent on experience coupled with ability. My only question is the exclusion of the best left back in the country, a proven winner and one of the highest capped players in the English game. The highest capped player in his position and the most reliable player in the entire squad. Ashley had 6 games since January... Yes and the point is what? If chosen, by the time England went through their friendlies Cole would have been flying and ready to go. Lastly, I like Baines and I believe him to be the natural successor to Cole in that position and that is why you take Cole so Baines learns from one of the best. It's not rocket science really but some people see the bigger picture and some people don't. I look at Coles exclusion and I ask does the FA not want to progress in the biggest competition in the world? Why not make Ashley Cole, long servant and top professional for his country the highest capped outfield player for England. Why not take the best option regardless of colour!
you sound like a conspiracy theorist tbh...statements with no facts. you "tend to analyse situations (you) see as odd"...lots of us do but do not see anything odd in not taking someone who has only played 6 prem games since January and could not hold down a place in his clubs starting line up...however lots think it is odd to claim a black player is being left out because of racism when; a) you offer no rational reason other than "cos he should have gone" b) 6 out of the 23 players in the squad are non white your crap about my attitude " being a safe bet to avoid unearthing something rotten in the ranks" is both unfounded and pathetic...I was heavily involved in the campaign for Stephen Lawrence which involved the exposing of the Met Police cover up and conspiracy of their institutionalised racism and incompetence which meant 2 of his murderers weren't tried for 19 years. I have been involved in other campaigns which involved the BNP and C18 sending razor blade on racist letters to us threatening to burn me and my wife and our kids out of our house and constant racist phone calls threatening to kill my "race traitor" wife and me. At one point you claimed he wouldn't get a cbe and then claimed that was light hearted and that your uncle got one ... so what was the point in claiming cole would not get one due to racism in the fa?. Racism is a serious issue that needs to be stamped out and claiming something as racist with NO facts damages the much needed anti racist cause. You say he has been kept out cos of his race refuse to back it up and then state As for evidence you ask to prove Coles exclusion is down to race is really a waste of time because we both know that can't be proven and that is the beauty/ugliness of it all ... you sound like David Icke claiming the world is ruled by evil lizards..."you can not prove me wrong" is his defence too
We'll Colin it seems you have lost your rag a bit there but here is something to make you lose it a bit more. I knew Stephen Lawrence personally... I went to forest hill boys and knew all his circle of friends. I was at his funeral. So what? To claim the FA does not have an institutionally racist attitude on certain matters is stupid at best. We'll done in all your work with anti racism. Genuinely I commend you. I live anti racism, as in I don't see colour I see people. I also know bullshit when I see it and Ashley Coles exclusion is just that in my opinion.
I have not claimed the fa is not institutionally racist...so stop with the bullshit.. I tried being jokey and you got all arsey so I aint about to try tgat again The relevance of your friendship is lost on me...you insinuated that my attitude was about wanting to avoid finding something rotten...hence my comments about some of my anti racist activities involving campaigning to unearth racism to prove something rotten. You may well know bullshit when you see it but bull **** and racism are 2 very different things...you refuse to show anything racist in the decision but insist you are right and accuse the rest who disagree are wilfully ignoring racism. This is pointless .. me and you will never agree on this so I will back off as it is you teams board and I have no wish to over stay my welcome
Listen I have no problem with you and as long as it's civil I don't see an issue. What do you want me to demonstrate in terms of Ashley Coles exclusion being down to institutional racism within the FA? Can you prove it's not? Not from what I have read. So yes we disagree. Life goes on!
This discussion is...well frankly ******ed. Ashley Cole didn't play enough games to warrant going to the World Cup. Shaw is the future, Baines has had a better season. If you are picking on form and merit from this season (Which you should always do, something England don't seem to understand usually) then they are the obvious choice.
Lol come on Ox how many members of the FA are even of ethnic minoritiy? The FA is not the most racially diverse organisation in the world so there is certainly something not right there. The sport it governs is most racially diverse in the world as are the fans so I am not sure why the FA board does not reflect that.
Ron Atkinson isnt racist either. There's a world of difference between making a racist remark and having racist beliefs.
If somebody calls someone a ****ing ****** then to my mind he's a racist. If you weren't a racist you wouldn't make racist remarks.
If you look at the demographics in England, and I'm the UK, a vast majority of the population (going by numbers I looked up but the latest they had were from 2011) is white. So if a vast majority of the FA board is white that doesn't exactly scream racism to me. Now if say the vast majority of the Nigerian Football Association were white then there'd be a problem
