I love that people are basing their judgement of Costa on 2 games in a World Cup for a team who don't utilise him the way he should be. AND just a few weeks after a bad injury. Classic British attitude.
Ha Ha ok. Bookmarked. Out of interest, and my opinion of him isn't just based on these two games by the way I've seen him play for Atletico plenty, what exactly gives you such conviction? If we/I can base my judgement on watching him, why are you so convinced he won't flop? I'm genuinely wanting a discussion here.
He's a good player and will do well for you, I also think he suits you as he's at time brilliant and at time a cheating diving little twat just like another striker you had.
I think he's pony. And not a one trick pony, pony and trap. I will concede I thought that about Drogba and was proved right for two seasons but he did eventually came good. Could well be the case with Costa, I'll be the first to admit it if I'm wrong. I'm looking forward to seeing him next season though.
hehe I am well aware that could bite me in the ass. And its the first time I have made such a statement on here. I suppose I am not 100% sure because you never can be, even what appears to be the best signings could well and truly flop. My optimism, I guess is the best word, is based on the fact that Atletico play in a similar fashion to us, and he has showed that he can flourish in such a role. Spain really dont play in a way that will benefit any target man to be honest, especially in this tournament, their build up has been slow and laboured. Remember they played chunks of the last couple tournaments with Fabregas up front, who is not fast at all, and helped bring their midfielders into the game more. If you are going to play with someone like Costa who likes fast , direct balls to his feet, or Torres who likes to be on the defenders shoulder to run on to balls, then you need to pass quickly. Spain should have either a) Put Fabregas in the middle, whose passing style would have complimented Costa more, or B) Put Villa up front instead who would have dropped deeper and helped with the build up play.
Plus Torres is ****, as someone who watches him every week I can attest to that. Torres is now the Spanish Heskey. Bringing him on when you are desperate for a goal is like bringing a water pistol to a house fire.
Well you must've been watching him during the period he had his injury becuase I don't see how you could think he was **** last season. Without him, Atletico don't win the title. I also disagree with these one season wonder comments. He's been very good for the past two seasons and although he's still a massive cock, he has matured. Season before last he was played around Falcao, meaning he wasn't Atleti's striker and he was still brilliant. Last season he was given his opportunity and took it with both hands. This is not me saying he will be a success with Chelsea, far from it. Like you I will be the first to eat my words if he turns out to be awful. But we can only go on what we've seen over the past couple of seasons, and that is a very lethal striker.
The bit in bold is a good comment, and I agree with you. Time will tell, seems a bit one dimensional to me but he could fit in perfectly at Chelsea and be the missing link. Back to the bit in bold though. This can be applied to Rooney. Without Rooney's goals England don't get to the world cup, yet that hasn't stopped a vast swathe of the football watching population accusing him of being **** and not good enough. Funny old game, eh?
People are stupid. Pay no attention. Rooney is still the best England has to offer in attacking options. (Though Sturridge could make a case eventually if he carries on)
I really hope so but there's no guarantees. I'm very happy with the acquisition though at 30 odd million, especially when we've just sold Luiz for nigh on 50! As for Rooney, this nation is full of idiots and the press don't help matters either.
Its based on his other 5 seasons of being ****. 1 good season 5 ****e seasons. Hes also looked like one of the worst players in the world cup and he turned down Brazil due to their striker force of erm.... Fred and Jo......
Costa will not score many for chelsea. drogba did not score many for a number of years. He wasnt a goal machine. Without lampard to be smashing in deflections, where exactly are your goals coming from? Not Torres thats for sure. hazard would be the main guy I suspect, but will he stay?
What are the chances that our Stevie or Jordan stamp on the racist's knee and get him out of the game? Come on Stevie you can do it for the country and be our hero... Would love it, absolutely love it.
Maybe he will, maybe he wont, I wont care if we win trophies. If we dont win one of PL or CL, Roman will get the sack hammer out anyway and Jose will be gone.
Besides from being entirely inaccurate, you buy the player they are now not what they were before. Hence why United are being linked with 50 million pound bids for a player they let go for nothing 2 years ago
Hopefully Hazard, Schurrle, Salah and Fabregas. Jose has won doubles, trebles, CLs and leagues playing a non-prolific battering ram striker. Drog at Chelsea, Benni at Porto, Milito at Inter, and to a lesser extent Higuain/Benzema at Real
