Bruce managed that inside 12 months and within another year he had ensured the Premier League adventure will continue.
Only during his time with Birmingham between 2001 and 2007 has Bruce taken charge of more games at any one club than the 101 here with City and all things point towards that tally growing again in 2014-15.
âIâve said it several times how grateful I am to the owners here,â said Bruce, who now operates on a one-year rolling contract with City. âThey trust me to do my job and thatâs not something you can take for granted in football.
âTheyâve given me nothing but support during my time here and backed me financially whenever Iâve asked. This summer has been no different. Iâve asked for players and theyâve delivered.â
