Away from the World Cup and the apparent ongoing meltdown at Saints, there are a number of other sporting events happening this summer. A new era for the England cricket team, the Commonwealth games, Tour De France, Wimbledon, England's tour of NZ and the British GP to name a few.

Thought we could have a thread to discuss these and see if we can get a little bit of joy away from football.

So to start us off, England are 76-3. Not the greatest start to a new era...<laugh>

Mods, if you don't want a thread like this then obviously move to the junk bin.

Hmm, Carberry scores a brilliant century to save the game for Hants and the next day, his replacement for England is out for 1...:emoticon-0120-doh:

    Still, England's loss is Hampshire's gain...<ok>

    I didn't say it wasn't that, did I?

(Sorry, just seeing if I can do impressions purely through writing).

This is a good thread to keep running over the summer months so I hope the mods persist with it. If it was put in the Shaw Shank box it would lose momentum as discussion would range from videogames to music and everything else that it general.

Not surprisingly two of the players who did so well at Roland Garros were dumped out early in their respective tennis tournaments being played today. A chance for the lesser lights to get some silverware before the big guns get their act together for Wimbledon where the likes of Murray and hopefully Nadal, this time, get to the business end again. But someone will pull a surprise and go a long way.

Well if Queens is any predictor of grass court form, they'll both be going home early.

It's not. They're probably still knackered after the French Open.
