BUMPED THREAD for obvious reasons HDF copy / pasting / quoting national reports that Spurs want £6.5m for Jake Livermore. If so, it is a great price for the lad who has more than proved his worth last season. Jake will just get better and better for us.
£5m for huddlestone... bargain! £6.5 for livermore? about £2.5m too much.. he had a solid season but nothing to deserve £6.5 million..
I thought Livermore was more valuable then THudd over the second half of the season. They compliment each other well, he already knows our team, the way we play etc. Still young, plus the english player premium and £6.5 is a fair price. Tottenham also know how much we'd like him so thats going to put it up a bit as well since thats what happened with Longavic.
£6.5m is very steep for Livermore, we overpaid for Jelavic in January to make sure we stayed up, I doubt we'll do the same in a summer window.
altho i rate Jelly and Long above our other strike threats , we have consistently been more prolific without them
I think that's more of a case of you stealing Huddlestone, rather than potentially over paying for Livermore. In the current market I think that's probably about his true value tbh.
It depends what he's worth to us, in Livermore we have a player that has proven he fits in with the squad, tactics and ethos at the club, is it worth overpaying slightly for a proven player or do you save some cash and take a risk?
Bollocks, bloody phone! Was supposed to click like! I agree with it all. We know what he's like or risk for a cut price deal on someone new!
Totally agree, and yes he is worth it to us IMO. I think at 6.5m, his actual value in today's market is irrelevant.
Let's not forget he and Huddlestone are close, we don't want to be breaking that up. I'd have hoped to get get him for around £4m, but £6.5 isn't that bad.
I think with the increase in prize monies last season/this season, the players values have increased as clubs perceive we have more money to spend......
Just a personal opinion but at £6.5m I would be walking away from any deal. He's good but not that good!
Bruce apparently agrees with you according to his recent comments and I think his opinion carries more weight than any of ours. Jake has been a great addition and at the right price could be a valuable member of the squad for years to come. But Bruce apparently thinks about 5 mill. would be more appropriate.
I think part of the problem is that we have no real rumors except a photo of ince and bruce hanging out on vacation. Makes people worried that we are letting people slip through the cracks over a mill. Bruce must have other people he thinks he can get for better value or he would probably be forking over their asking price.
