It is sometimes written into contracts that the ex-manager can't ask for players...though I suspect that would only hold for one season...just so a team isn't further unsettled.
I'm quite sure other people who have held management positions have been headhunted here. It's a regular occurrence. Then, when you're in your new position, one of the first questions you're asked is "is there anybody in your old team you'd like to bring along with you". In the context of a move from a smaller company to a larger company, you may well think "well yes, I think person X was great, I got along with them, they have a lot of potential, and I'd like to continue working with them". At which point you say to Person X, "hey, fancy coming along to my new project".
MP's management "team" is the assistant coaches he works with, not the players he manages. If it turns out MP is only successful when he has Lovren, Schneiderlin, etc. then you have to question whether he is even a good manager or if it's the players that are good.

Restrictive convenants are often written into contracts for the majority of management positions, but are devilishly hard to enforce.
I think its perfectly normal for people to be a bit annoyed on here with Poch. And yes I'd be annoyed if he came back and bought our better players. It would be rubbing salt in the wound for goodness sake. At present it feels like we are falling from the crest of a wave onto some hard wet sand.
I think (well for me) that there is the realisation by some that we are back to being a mid table side......probably. I sincerely hope I am wrong, and we attract a decent manager to push us on.
Everyone deals with the disappointment differently. Lets face it football is a bit tribal, people aren't always rational about it and will clearly get emotional. Seems we have the rational police, and the ones that let it all out. For the record, I also find Spurs irritating.

Pochettino has been great for us. Changing the way we play, making us one if not the best looking play wise in the Prem. But the way he has gone about the Spurs interest and contract issue feels like he has played us. I thank him for what he has done, but don't wish him luck with his next job.
Don't get me wrong, I totally get the irritation - hell, I'm annoyed myself - and I wish he had some greater emotional attachment to us that had made him stay - I'm a massive, massive fan of his as a manager. I'm far from being the rational police either (I was anything but when Adkins was sacked). However I just don't think realistically we can sit here and firstly criticise him (without all the details) for an ambitious move, or expect him not to include any of our better players when he looks at people he would like to recruit on his new project (please not, I say 'like to' recruit, not 'will').
It's just......well, that's just life really, not just footballl.
No, the people he managed, his team, are the players. I really don't get your premise here? Ask yourself - would Lovren and Schneiderlin improve Tottenham's team/squad. The answer is yes because they're both good players. That doesn't mean he can only manage a team with them in.....?
That makes more sense, but say some of those players don't or can't get MPs philosophy - human nature to go for the devil you know, though saying that, I agree that they have enough there already. What they need are full backs. Now look at what Clyne said about MP. But as has been said, let's wait and see!
Would any of you take Moyes?

Once everyone has had a shout about Pochettino's lack of loyalty, I suggest we need to wind our necks in. Most of us were very upset when Nigel was fired....for a few games, then Nicola had done the right thing. We had no problem when players who had won us promotion were dropped like a stone come the new season, so asking for loyalty is a bit rich. Loyal player gets an injury? Pity...get him off the payroll ASAP!
So if it is confirmed that MP has gone I will be disappointed and concerned at why he felt Spurs were a better bet. But I shall not waste my energy in anger. I support the club, regardless of who's the manager. I have enjoyed the best season I can remember. I hope it's not the high-water mark for Saints. Time will tell.
