For me under Pocche, its been the best season and a half since the Channon & Ball era.
I have been relaxed all year and proud to be associated as a saints fan with all the plaudits bouncing around.
The football has been awesome and the players are obviously so happy.
If he moves to spurs i will be so gutted and to be honest a bit worried.
There will be an excuse for the transfer targets to request a move or be sold and i think Pocche is in a very strong position at Spurs.
Levvy is on the poop, he will have to give him at least 2 years to get his way in place and i think he will do very well.
I will be so gutted to see him go but still want him to do well as he's been brilliant for us.

Agree. Best case is we continue to progress and he does a good job at Spurs. Happy for them to finish in the top 5 if we finish 4th!:D

one of the horrible things in football...you get attached to someone at your club and then they go...I have no idea if he is the right person for us but a big part of me hopes he stays with you..you gave him his first chance and so I hope he repays that by staying.

Anyway...he'll only be sackked by levy by xmas!

It wasn't his first chance though in reality. I find the anger that Poch doesn't have Saints in his blood strange too. Let's be realistic, we can suppose reasonably that Poch has 5 emotional attachments in football -

1 - Newell's Old Boys
2 - Marcelo Bielsa
3 - Argentina
4 - Espanyol
5 - Nicola Cortese

He might have grown one with Saints had he stayed 10 years or something, but in his mind a better opportunity has come along. To be honest, if we were able to detach ourselves from our connection with Saints, I'd speculate that 99% of the people on this board would make the same move.

What will we spend the 2 million on? Maybe we could buy a million euro lottery tickets in the hope of winning so we can pay off all the supposed debt we owe. At least we'd have a bit of direction then.

This is where the board has to do some plain speaking to players...don't ask, you will be held to your contract. No discussion. If the club sell Luke and Adam because the price is right and the money will be spent on others players, that is a business decision. The others should be told no.
 
Did we just happen to have the world's greatest manager? I doubt it. So we can probably find someone as good if not better. I, for one, thought we were doomed without Adkins and, obviously, we weren't.

The real downside to him leaving is the message this might give to our players and it might be the thing that persuades them to jump ship.
 
Remember that we have a happy ship here (and it was pre-MP as well). They are treated very well...like players at a top club. They won't suddenly turn into an ungrateful bunch of lazy ne'er do wells. They will feel adrift at the moment and remember some of them will feel abandoned by Mauricio (they won't all take his side), but footballers are pragmatic. We need a rapid and good appointment, so they will know where they stand.
 
He, like Hoddle before him, is an absolute mug to choose the poisoned chalice and total basket case that is Spuds over staying with us. He will not find it as easy to implement his high pressing style and mould a team with the pampered prime donnas he will be inheriting as he did with the close knit group of young players at Saints.
He is also walking away from the best group of young players since Manure's fabled "class of '92" and we will wait and see where our respective clubs will be in 5 years time. Every cloud has a silver lining and maybe the incoming Manager might understand the importance of the FA Cup and recognise it as the best chance for us to win a major trophy.
I promised myself that I would not get emotionally attached to a Manager after Nigel was sacked, so I say, thanks Poch....NEXT!

Post of week, in my opinion.
 
Just hope the Board have the good sense to put a clause in place that denies Poch the ability to take any of our players with him. Otherwise, I am certain that he will - whether it be Lovren when Vertonghen goes; or Schneiderlin; or even Jay, eventually. All players he will need at Spurs to get his team working hard. And thegutter press will continually link players to Spurs because of this. This Board needs to show they can do something right.

As for Poch, I would follow his career anywhere else but with Spurs. I sincerely hope he massively fails, before going on to have a great career elsewhere in Europe. I am filled with the deepest depression, not at the thought of losing our manager, but with the suggestions in the press that McClown, Poyet, and Lennon are likely candidates. McClaren is the - and I mean THE - ultimate Grim Reaper of football. We need progressive thinkers, and exciting talent at the helm, not saggy-jowled, ruddy-faced yes men two minutes away from a personal breakdown - and who are also likely to jump at the first sniff from a bigger club. That means steering away from the genus of managers that encompasses Sven, McClaren, Redknapp etc.
