Was watching my eel one day, he was trying to get to smaller fish I put into the tank bu t they were too quick, well the ****ing eel sees a bit of floating plant and sees it passes the small fish, when it goes by again the eel used it to get closer to the fish and got his reward, a pengiun tetra I just paid 6 quid for, but he earned it <laugh>

Anything but boring.

If you had said dogs in the first place, I'd have immediately agreed with you <doh>

Well dogs were a no brainer.. I thought saying cat's even though I don't like them and find them annoying, would make my point even more meaningful that I'd rather have one of them than a bunch of fish!

i wannnnttttttt!

I'm sure you could steal 1 (or 3) from somewhere :bandit:

Fair enough, thought they were tigers. I rarely chose the fish for ours, leave it to the mrs (not married) and/or kids. When I choose I gets sharks <laugh>

Tiger Barbs are very similar in pattern and colour actually, so a mistake easily made lad<ok>

Haven't you got one? I'm sure someone on here has one, for some reason I thought it was you?

Whoever has one on here, I'll just steal theirs <ok>

Nope. I want one. Once I get settled and stuff I plan on getting a little husky pup. At the moment, would have to leave it home alone all day and stuff which wouldn't be fair though.

I wouldn't mind some piranhas but the mrs (not married) wouldn't let me plus its not wise with three kids under seven and a intrigued dog <laugh>

Once I sort the lid out I'll get some frogs, snails, etc for the boys (the little weirdo's). Only got seven small fish in it at the minute as I lost a few over the winter for some reason. Plus my three sharks decided to stop getting along and killed each other <grr>

It's actually a myth that Piranhas eat live flesh etc.... they actually more scavengers <whistle>

Another reason why dogs are better than fish.. they don't tend to eat each other quite as often <laugh>

I want one too, got two dogs already so wouldn't happen at the moment, will have to wait until I get my own place <ok>

Snals will multiply into a disgusting hoard that lay eggs on everything, disgusting, unless you get the big yellow apple snails they multiply slowly, and the frogs will eat the fish.

That community tank is going to be "interesting"<laugh>

btw, red bellies are the piranhas you want but you have to starve them to get them to frenzy feed. I've often had my hands in tanks with well fed piranha no problems

Youtube live feeding of piranhas. They savage live animals when hungry, even people if you are unlucky, once blood is drawn, the power of these fish, they can rip your whole calf muscle off in one go, a hungry frenzied group of these would be deadly if you were caught in water.

Not if you starve them :)

Local pet shop I go to has them, its great when you time it right and their being fed :) they have all sorts including crocs (about 2ft long), meerkats, badgers, monkeys, etc

They don't like cooper, it wipes them out. Crabs<yikes> freshwater crabs I take it. Crayfish maybe?
have you got a heater and filter though?

my friend keeps Caymans and has a few Iguanas, they actually own different rooms cos the males kill each other, and he has to appease them with a item of clothing before he can touch them, his cayman aquarium takes up a whole large room, ****ing fantastic, even has a Chameleon. Downside, his house smells like lizard crap and the noise of ****ing crickets gets to you after a while.

Great place to blaze up though<laugh>

Answered that already...

Yeah, got everything else. I have tropical fish, had them for about three years now. My original tank bust about six months ago and I've had this one since as a temporary solution. Since I'm not going to get a bigger tank for less than £300 (<yikes>) I though I'd try and get a lid.

I've actually got spare filter and heater because the ones I had for the old tank weren't big enough.

Don't mention snails, RHC will be in here going on about them again!!

missed that <doh>

Those small fish only life for 5 years on te wild, the small tropical species, and a lot less in captivity so expect constant string of occasional deaths, maybe just a coincidence they died in winter though if the heater is not up to the task then a rising and dropping temp messes with their immune systems and they get secondary infections usually bladder infections and float upside down.

For a tank that size, it sounds like it is about 180 litres so you need a 200w heater. Change 40% of the water weekly and use dechlorinator with every water change and clean your filter every 2 months at most.
