Madrid fans are the most unforgiving fans towards big money signings in their first season. Zidane was booed in his first season and it took a couple of years before they fully appreciated Ronaldo (even with his constant flow of goals). Ronaldo also received his time for being booed.
I would include Jose but even with his success the fans never wanted his style of management.
Playing for Real Madrid is probably the biggest test of a players self belief and Modric does deserve huge respect, especially as he didn't get the respect his talent deserved when we had him.
