Oh, and a word on substitutions. Traore for Kranky was kinda forced on us, and we always knew Bobby would come on for Doyle. After the red card, loads of people around me were wondering why he took off Hill and put on Henry. Simple: with O'Neill gone, we needed to shore up the centre of midfield, else we'd get swamped. Joey can't really do that for so long without getting a yellow card or two, so Henry was the obvious man. And Hill (once again) made the right call - take him off, bring Traore back to LB, and go three across the middle with Henry sitting in behind Hoilett and Barton, pull Charlie back to plug the gaps, and leave Bobby up front as the target. It didn't work out that way cos we ALL sat too deep, allowing them to keep coming on to us far too deep. But the tactic was sound, we just didn't execute. Bobby should have stayed up, and that would have meant at least two defenders would have needed to stay back as cover.
I still think he was going away from goal and it wasn't a clear goal scoring chance. My friend said the comments from neutrals were 50 50 and a lot of them hate us so that's more than enough doubt to give a yellow. The bad thing is we will be seeing much more of that twat in the PL.
Hill was motioning to come off. I don't have a problem with the sub's, the problem is that he had to take off two players playing bad in the semi, only to pick them again and then have to take them off again! Still, hopefully we won't be seeing teams like that in the future.
I watched the match live on Bet36 then had to run, so just catching up after my daughter's university graduation ceremony. Was it Hoilett who fought for the ball on the right and then played it into the box for Zamora? In the video clip that player just doesn't seem to react to the ball going into the net?
It certainly was Kilburn - he showed real determination Zamora was lucky to get the ball, but what a great finish!
What a day and what an unbelievable result. I'm still somewhat bewildered by what happened. Fantastic support and passion. Did we deserve to win - probably not. But win we did and it feels great especially as we did it the hard way.......wouldn't be Rangers otherwise. Fantastic to meet so many fellow posters today.
My apologies folks, my daughter after seeing me on here far too much, has got carried away by today's events and has created an account. She was 11 yesterday and if she continues she can expect a long ban!
Harsh indeed Nines Frankly she is showing admirable initiative! And she may show a little more maturity than some on here
Still got no voice left and can't even think about sleeping. Not quite sure how it happened but we are most definitely premier league. Madness, but all 37 odd thousand of us will remember this forever.
