If we sign Martinez or a similar player, I can see one of Arteta or Flamini leaving as they would want first team action more often. Same if we sign a winger, one of ours (most likely Podolski) will probably leave.
Personally I think we need another winger regardless of anyone going so there is no need to sell anyone if we signed Sanchez. I think podolski would be ok with a backup role as long as he plays fairly often.
I read that, it being something to do with him playing cb and missing games, but when I looked at his comments and the facts, I just couldn't see how the press managed to twist it round. He hasn't played CB that much and he has only missed 2 games all season where he wasn't injured or suspended. He has a contract to 2017, I just cant see how they will let him go, or why he would want to move.
I think we should be looking for Arteta to have less of a role in the 1st team for next season - and as good as he has been, I feel he can make a few too many mistakes and give away needless fouls - though his passing is v good. So I think if we signed an upgrade on him it wouldn't be a huge issue if he went elsewhere - disappointing to lose him from the squad though. I agree that a winger is a must, particularly with a player like Giroud up front who thrives on players running past him, and players like Ozil, Cazorla, Rosicky ect who like the ball at their feet - we need players to stretch teams and provide space. But I do think we need about 4/5 players and a mix of World Class, promising and squad players. We need a WC striker And/Or Winger (as I genuinely believe that if Giroud has players running beyond him, he can set up quite a few goals for other players and chip in with more than his 23? this season - instead of being isolated on his own as he was in Feb-beginning April). A back up CB is essential - particularly one who can replace Mert when he needs a rest (Vermaelen and Kos don't seem to work) A back up GK, though be nice to keep Fabinanski A DM or deep lying playmaker/quartterback (whatever they are called)
because we are all masochists to the rumour. we believe in every story line that the newspapers spin. the papers love writing the stories as they know we will take it all in, and they don't have to say sorry that they get it wrong. so you get headlines like "Ballotelli to Arsenal", then next day "Arsenal quiet on Ballotelli rumours", then "Ballotelli to not join Arsenal" . all of the stories being utter **** but as we are slavish in our desperation we believe then hope then have hope dashed. every year i swear i won't read the transfer gossip pages, and every day its the first thing i look at.

Also to note all these players are in their respective WC squads =. After the WBA game we should have been identifying (I presume this is done) and bidding for players. I know the FA cup is in a week so don't expect anything this week. But last week we could have seen movement. After FA cup we better see immediate movement. Otherwise the same **** as the last few windows all summer long.
