I know for a fact that Wayne Bridge was on £100k a week at City and when he went out on loan to Brighton Man City continued to pay him £90k a week with £10k being paid by Brighton - I assume that the player refused to be sold unless another club met his £100k a week wages which is why he ended up in a lower division with 'his club' continuing to pay 90% of his wages....

Shaq-attaq may be left footed, but he's much better on the right hand side and cutting inside. he has a ferocious shot on him. he's wasted on the left, as he doesn't like going outside and crossing. he much prefers (and is better at) playing on the right, taking his man on, beating him and shooting from 20 yards out.

Also, and maybe it's just me here, but at what point do you have enough money?! Sagna, whilst not on massive wages, must still be absolutely minted! He could play for free from now on and still retire a very rich man and as it is we're rumored to have offered him about £80-90k for a few years which I personally would begrudgingly accept...

If I were a player who'd only recently hit the big time and had a few years left then yes, I could understand a mercenary attitude. For me though it'd be all about the game time if I had the monies already.

Has anyone considered the option that Sagna is just waiting to see if we win the FA cup before signing a new deal, just like Wenger is.
I know its unlikely as surely he would have told someone that, but I still think its possible he could stay.

    I think it's unlikely.

Wenger has already said he will stay and has always maintained that he never breaks his word. Don't see why you think he is waiting to see if we win the cup???

if he wasn't waiting for something, he would have put his name on the contract already. the fact that he hasn't signed shows that he is waiting for something, and the only thing that i can think of is the cup final.

The only thing he's waiting for is the season to finish, he's gone

On the whole Sagna leaving thing, he is probably leaving for a bumper paydeal at a bigger club. While people are using the argument that he must have enough money. I would say a million to most of us is a ridiculous sum but to someone earning in that bracket it isn't. So while it maybe more than enough for us to retire on it may not be for him as he leads a more expensive lifestyle. Also this is the last football contract he will sign and will never have a realistic opportunity to earn this kind of money ever again of course money is a factor. Its all about perspective. In your final contract wouldn't you try to make more money at a better company to enjoy retirement. I dont blame him if he did leave. Also he is a quality RB who is also a very good CB something City severely lack. In between Rb and Cb (plus fpp meaning they cant get too many players) Sagna would get more than enough game time.

That being said if we can keep him then fantastic think he is a great player and an ideal role model for others. It's going to be an interesting summer, little scared Wenger is already doing the no one till after WC schtik. Why not? Surely if you have identefied targets get at least one deal done now. Maybe its a ploy, maybe its a reality but we need movement motherf**ker.

Team without additions realistically next summer will be :

    ---------------Wos/?-------------------

    ?/Jenk----Mert/?---Kos/TV-----Gibbs/Mon

    -------Arteta/Flam----Ramsey/Wilshere----

    Theo/OXo-----Ozil/Ros--------Caz/Pod----

    ------------Giroud/Sano---------------

If that plays out we need

A 2nd choice Gk - I suggest some talented Youngster or Experienced older player - Linked with Kasper (realistic) - Take a punt on Casillas
A 1st choice RB - Coleman, Aurier, - linked with both and the Southampton kid (meh)
A Cb - Ideally someone young - Papadopoulos or I wouldnt mind Caulkner either.
A DM - Bender is out but we are being linked to Martinez (unlikely) - Not sure was really hoping for Bender - M'Villa?? Rossi? need someone of tru top qualit
A Striker - Here we need to aim big - Manduzkic, Benzema, Ibrahimovic (nigh on impossible but would love it), Balotelli (risk), Costa

Thats 5 players if Sagna and Fab leave. 3 if they dont. I see 3 being realistic I have a fear even if both leave Wenger wont get the 5 that we need. Like I said should be an interesting summer.

Thing is if he is signing for a UK club then he has to wait till one month left on his contract to officially sign. If he was going anywhere else he could have signed with 6 months remaining. So if he was going to PSG he could have done it already, however if he is going to City he has to wait till a month left to 'officially' sign.

Has something new come out today about that? All I can find are the stories from a few days ago.

Oh I dunno. I'd heard the rumors a few days back but today was the first time I heard him say "Arsenal can buy me for 4m Euros and he'd not mind coming back to England" (not a direct quote). Probably just me being slow.

Edit: Yeah it's well old. Sorry. Clearly I've a talent for transfer nonsense! Hear a story, report it. Wait for a few days, report it again like it's a new fact. Bosh.

I know everyone is going to groan but I do want to draw your attention first of all the Gnabry, who I think may well be challenging for a first team spot next year.

We also have a very good young goalkeeper and an ex-Barcelona CB that everyone is raving about. Also Diaby has one more year.

Gnabry agreed... He could be world class in the not too distant future. But I see him on the right so we still need a left winger.

Barca CB? So many young players we've had have been raved about and turned out not good enough so won't be convinced until he puts some first team performances in.

    Diaby... Hmm...

Fair enough. Saw enough of Gnarby to say he will be an asset next year. But that still doesn't address any of the issues i have highlighted. Martinez (i presume is the young keeper) would be a major step up for him, I am not comfortable him being one injury away from being 1st choice. Also not sure who the young CB is but seeing as he didn't even feature in the squad this year it would again be another major step up. Lets also not forget that Sagna has been used at CB when required and if he goes we are limiting our options even more in that regard.
