Is this news or a rumour? Anyway the WO have published it. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/11197643.Watford_want_Vydra_to_return/
This must be....... But needs to part of a deeney-vydra axis or similar ... will this have any bearing on Deeney staying? and Tommy Smith is putting his hand up to play for us... .at 34 could do a few games....
It was mentioned in the article about Vydra, but there is more about Tozer. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...rd_closing_in_on_permanent_signing_of_Tozser/ Must have impressed if he is due for an international call up again.
I'd definitely take Vydra back... maybe a season warming the West Brom bench will have humbled both him and more importantly his agent. His stock would have dropped significantly so he will be back to square 1 and something to prove again. If we can also sign Toszer and one or two others (for me a commanding CB and a LWB), trim the squad of the ones that didn't work, then I really think we'd have a squad to be pushing again I just hope we don't get sent loads of players who have to try to adjust again... And maybe a manager who knows the league would be nice too
I guess Vydra would just be a replacement for Deeney but great if he and Tozser can sign. Them and a fit Abdi would improve our chances no end I feel. Just hope its not paper talk trying to get people's hopes up.
His agent again... http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...uld_prefer_to_play_for__first_division_team_/ Ultimately the owners decide and if he's surplus to Udinese then maybe he will come back for another go at promotion
From above article. And Chovanec said: “Vydra is a player of Udinese, they are Matej’s owners. He has the qualities to play in a top level team, so I prefer him to have the chance to show what he can do in a top competition.” Looks as if Chovanec wants a chunk of a bigger salary than he might get at WFC. Does Vydra have a voice?
I'd say you're spot on. I'd also say that he's had the chance to show what he can do in a top competition, and didn't exactly cover himself with glory. A bit of Deeney-esque humility and hard graft for a season or two may be just the tonic he needs to get another chance up there.
Am I missing something re Vydra? He had a great first half of a season when he was with us, in 2012. This season he has been the reserve striker for the team one place above relegation in the league to which we aspire. I need to know what has happened to him in the last 18 months and whether that can be turned around by our current coaching staff before I get excited at his rumoured return.
Just my take on Vydra. He came to us after a serious knee injury that had kept out of the game for a very long time. The first half of the season he looked fantastic, but the second half he had a number of niggling injuries, didn't look very fit to me on the occasions I watched him and seemed to lose a bit of interest when he wasn't scoring for fun. It was round about the time he lost form that his agent started to suggest that he should be setting his sights higher than WFC. Did this have an effect on him? If it did he didn't show any great professional attitude, but maybe he has not been playing long enough to realize that is not the way to carry on. His potential is great, hence the new contract, but he did have injuries again at the start of his WBA life and found it difficult to get a start when he was fit. His value to the Pozzos has decreased while he has been in the midlands, so it makes sense for them to send him back to us to try and rekindle that spark. If he had an attitude problem when he left us maybe he has learned a lesson, but that is something he must deal with and no coach can get the best out of any player if they don't put 100% in. Lots of guesswork in this as I don't know what has gone on at the training ground in the past.
In fact he is so poor that he scored the most beautiful goal I've ever seen at vic road (against leicester in play offs) and another too BTW. so much for not interested. you grumpy lot should try to get a better job before complaining about others trying to get one. If he came back to ud, he will light up thr place - and we'll keep deeney !
I don't think that anyone would deny the quality of his goals - but many do actually remember the long spell where he did very little, and didn't appear to be arsed about playing, and that is what is being questioned about him - his commitment. Fans don't generally hand over their money to watch people going through the motions....
I understand what you are saying but we have had an awful lot of goalscorers who have only been good for a short while. People, quite rightly, raved about Danny Graham and Marvin Sordell, to give two recent examples, but would they want them back now? Some players can learn from their youthful failings, others can't. If Vydra believes that he can resurrect his career with us and is prepared to put the effort in to improve then I would love to have him back. I don't want him back if he feels that he is too good for us. Of course, these are questions to which none of us know the answer.
Unforutnately it seems Vydra's agent has more interest in his pocket than his client's progression I totally understand Vydra wanting to challenge himself at the highest level, as we all would, but maybe he'll just have to take a step back to take two forward. His stock would have dropped this last season, so would be interesting to see what clubs would take a punt on him! Can't see anyone paying the sort of money the Pozzos would want, and not sure they'd want to loan him again to a non-Pozzo team.... so maybe! Just as long as he tries if he's in that yellow shirt...
I'm more interested in a promising young star by the name of Tommasino Smithoni - he's actually not injury prone (which probably rules him out of the Pozzos`plans) - any further rumours on that one ?
