I would rather buy a winger and stick with Walcott on top than have Mandzukic or Benzima or how ever you spell his name in our team these guys have no work rate for our league and most likely our supporters would probably try to kill them before Christmas.
You are crazy. Manzukic is THE hardest working striker I can think of - Thats what he's known for. The guy runs like a maniac, wins tackles, defends and scores a ton of goals.
This is probably the 17th or 20th time I have seen him this season and he is alway **** even when he scores I must be unfortunate and he only plays good when I am not watching!
Balotelli, ****ing Balotelli!!! You guys are mad. I have watched him so many times this season, and the guy is a complete joke now. His work ethic is appalling. His performance against Roma last Friday was one of the displays from a CF I have seen in ages. The ****er barely moved. He has talent, but that means **** all without any application. Look at Ronaldo, has all the talent in the world, but never stops working or running.
He is a bit of a lazy ****, but he has that killer finish that we've been lacking. Overall I'd much rather we went for somebody like Mandzukic, but if Balotelli was available then I wouldn't say no. But having said that we had Arshavin in the team once, bags of talent, the ability to unlock a defence and change the game in an instant and the lazy **** just couldn't be bothered.
I want Ibra. He's still got a good 2-3 years at this level. He seems to be getting better with age. On current form, Ronaldo and Messi are the only players better than him. 41 Goals and 17 assists this Season. Just pay him 250k a week - I'm pretty sure he would be tempted by a couple of Seasons in the EPL.
He would cost more than 60 million quid, plus those huge wages, basically our entire transfer kitty alone.
At 32 with 1 year left on his contract?.. he would'nt cost much at all.. It's just the wages would be HUGE. But he is averaging almost 40 goals a Season over the last few years.. Imagine what that would do for our team.
Balotelli is a different player to Arshavin (obviously). Physically he's everything we need up front. Big, fast, technical and able to win a game on his own if properly motivated. Arshavin was also unbelievably talented but the problem for him is that short "kind-of" forwards were ten a penny with us when he was here. I get the impression that he, like Balotelli, needed to be the main man. Signing Mario would be a big gamble but if you're able to get the best out of him then you've got a world beater.
Whoever they get I hope they're already working on it, if it's not agreed before the world cup we'll probably not have them ready for the start of the season like with Ozil
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we brought in 2-3 players around the 10-15m mark at most. Maybe one 18-20m at a massive stretch. I reckon we'll keep Giroud and add a promising young striker. Not to the level of Sanogo, someone better, but still a youthful "gamble". Someone like that lad in Belguim or the Swiss kid both of whom are getting a number of goals and rave reviews but aren't yet considered the finished article. After that I think we may add a DM and then spend the rest replacing Fab, Sagna and possibly a new CB if Vermaelen goes.
If I'm honest though.. I think Wenger will go for young players. Possibilities: Griezmann - Tearing up La Liga. Scores alot of goals and would add pace to our left flank. Draxler - Reminds me of a young RVP. Been hyped alot so would'nt come cheap. L.Bender - Would be the perfect long term solution to our DM position. Tall, hardworking and technically sound. At 21 he's already Captain at Leverkusen. Morata - Big, technical and quick. In many ways he has it all. Will be a very good forward. Coleman - Arguably the best RB in the EPL. Lukaku - The next Drogba? Still only 20 and already tearing up EPL defences. Casemiro - Deep lying playmaker at Real. Only 21 and looks physically well suited to the EPL. Made a big impression in Brazil and is pushing Xavi for a first team place at Real. Alexandre Lacazette - Reminds me of a young Anelka. 22 years old and scored 21 goals for Lyon this Season. (attracting interest from United and Liverpool) Not sure how good he really is. Matthias Ginter - Would love this guy at Arsenal. Young German Centreback. Absolute beast. (we almost signed him in the Summer)
But can Wenger really afford to get another few young players in, although those names are very good. He needz to get an already established player or two up front. He really hasn't got much time and needs to really go for it now. He's already built a good team and needs those marquee signings to give him the best opportunity to win the league. Go out with a bang and not a wimper Wenger FFS!!!!
I think its the only way we can compete with City/Chelsea and I think Wenger see's it that way too. We cant afford to buy Falcao/Cavani type names but can afford £20 Million here and there on players like Bender who have the same kind of potential. The key thing is that we go for the BEST young players and forget about mediocre French league 25 year olds. In a World with Billionaire Club owners the only way to compete is through youth.
I know what you're saying, but we can still afford the lesser players like Mandukic or Balotelli. Basically the players that are under the radar for the mega rich.
I think Manzukic would be a good buy. On the whole though I want to see more 'Henry's' and less 'Gervinho's' at Arsenal. The most likley way that's going to happen is if we sign talented youngsters.
I'm with you on this, no more budget buys. I can understand why we did it in the past, as it was used as a kind of patch up job to keep us churning in the cash for top 4's. But buying top quality younger players with proven talent like Draxler, would be a good compromise. I'd like to see Wenger lift the Premiership trophy before he retires, but do do that he needs to buy some serious quality this summer. I hope for ours and his sake, Ozil wasn't a one off.
