Ok, I'll revise my statement slightly: no bookies had them as favourites for the title!

As someone who is clearly a stickler for.....well....everything, I feel I'd best point out that they weren't my favourites either, but I thought they were dark horses and in with a shot. Just so we have our semantics straight.

Time for bed mate. Come back when you're sober <laugh>

Oh dear PTF. Just got in off a plane and a car drive. Totally dry. But I am glad I wasn't around earlier to get sucked in by your semantics as LTL referred to it as. Seems like you've rubbed a few up the wrong way tonight :)

Glad I could just come in at the end and take the piss. :)

Old news. In any case, why stop at FBs..? I think one of the crowd here managed to find links showing that the entire team will be transferred this summer. Then one or two of us contemplated playing the 14 year olds, or maybe even the 9 year olds. :)

I suggested that the state-of-the-art academy building will be put on piles, lifted by crane and shifted to the highest bidder. Why not..? Cash in Katy..!

The answer for Calum is in the Mail article..... long term replacement for Sagna. He is playing in the PL now as switch and switch about with Clyne...he would probably scarcely play for Arsenal in the next year or two. Arsenal are better than Chelsea for bringing players through, but he would still get more experience here. From our point of view, no one will offer the silly money for Chambers that they may do for Luke.

New Forrest District Council are planning to rename the Marchwood bypass "Arsène Wenger Way" with a statue of him trying to zip up that faulty jacket of his erected in the middle of the Rushington Roundabout. The Pilgrim Inn is to be renamed the Gunners Arms as 90% of their trade is from Wenger the Arsenal scouts hanging around Southampton's Academy.

Is Chambers that much better than Jenkinson? This seems like a non starter.

As brilliant as it is to have our academy, the constant rumours swirling around are annoying. I also think players coming from our academy now get a premium price tag. We're kind of like an award winning breeder, with clubs willing to pay more.

I think if there were two players of equal ability from us and say Stoke, our player would be worth a few million more.

Yes, and has more potential.

Arsenal do seem to try and get them young and therefore relatively cheap and they have a decent reputation for bringing them through to the team. I cannot see Wenger going for Luke, because he is perhaps over priced i.e. we would only accept more than he is worth to us (aka a hell of a lot). I believe (based solely on rumours) that Arsenal want Calum for 10 mill...unless he is surplus to requirements, we are in a position to say no to such a paltry sum.

If the market value for a quality young English FB like Luke is £30m, surely Callum is only just behind him (being in his break through season) so lets say £20-25m if "he decides" his future lies elsewhere
Wener will never pay that amount....bye bye Arsene!
