Another win and was probably our biggest test really. I hate West Ham and I truly despise that fat c*nt Sam Allarydyce.

We struggled to really get in the game but once we got the second goal, we dominated. Lucas's introduction gave us more control but I think West Ham did sit back a bit deeper which helped.

Sakho and Skrtel were brilliant, and West Ham put in 30 crosses and only had 1/2 real chances (the goal and when AC hit the bar). Thought Flanno was poor and was another example of a player with a more direct style beating him on almost every attempt.

West Ham's goal wasn't a goal. Simple.

Our second penalty, I thought that it wasn't a penalty at the time. But it's a clear penalty when you see the replay. Watch it back in 2 phases - Adrian does get the ball initially. No pen. In the second phase, he doesn't get enough of the ball, so the ball continues to run in a straight line which Flanno would have got. Adrian practically holds Flanno's leg and pulls him down. It's a penalty in my eyes.

This bit seems to be getting completely ignored as well - even if he palms the ball with great contact to the right and it goes out for a throw - you can't just hold the players leg after until he goes down. It's called a foul.

Exactly. That's why I prefer to look at the incident in 2 parts. Whilst Adrian does the ball initially, play continues and the next action is a clear foul.

And also, from the ref's angle, the ball didn't deviate. Which would imply that he didn't touch the ball. It was a tricky one for the ref and I think he gave it based on his earlier error - lucky for him, it was the right decision.

I seem to remember that Adrian holds (or lovingly strokes!) first one then the other of Flanno's legs. Might have mis-remembered, though. Anyone fancy checking or posting a mp4 of it?

in the end all that needs to be said is sturridge could run in and smash yet another attempt wildly off target ergo the ball was not cleared ergo the keeper took out flanagan's chance to shoot ergo ... penalty. quite simple

The other one was never a pen, the keeper got the ball and Flannagan didn't have it under control, he just threw himself over the keepers challenge. You'd have been screaming Blue murder if you got a crucial one against you, like that ffs.

as for keeper got the ball. keeper "got" means he either cuaght it or cleared it surely... he did neither so when did "didn't have it under control" men no pen cos i am sure i could some up with 50 pen given where guys kick keick the ball past a keeper and probably will never get it but get clattered and get pens.

I'm not having that. That was Fat Sam's bullshit too, that Flanno was over before he was touched. I didn't think it was a pen - I'd have felt aggrieved had it been given against us, but the Flanno thing is dogshit. He no tonly got up and tried to play on, but he didn't even claim the pen. Utterly ludicrous to say that he dived ; you can CLEARLY see the contact (accidental in my view) that brings him down. Even this West Ham supporting journalist says so -

And whilst I still maintain the second pen was harsh, I remember the run-in in 09 when united, 2-0 down at OT to Spurs, were given a penalty when the ref (Webb?) was 40 yards away and adjudged that even though the goalie had clearly touched the ball first AND DIVERTED IT AWAY, his follow-through brought down Carrick. Seems some Bitters don't think those rules apply to us.

By my reckoning we've had three dodgy pens this season, four if you stretch it to include the Villa one that every commentator except Collymore said was stonewall, and we've had seven NOT given, including two in the same United match that we got three. FFS, 90% of the time Suarez has to be eviscerated in front of the referee to get a penalty, and even that's not enough for Webb. And don't get me going on the countless other decisions such as the Carroll slapping and the Sterling offside decision against City that we didn't get.

Well I'll start myself by asking why Tompkins wasn't sent off yesterday. Poll mentions it, and I think MITO pointed it out yesterday, but had Tomkins not stopped the ball with his hand yesterday Suarez was ten yards in front of goal with only the keeper to beat. How is that not the definition of denying a goalscoring opportunity? So add Tomkins to the list of Rafeal, Bruce and Mirallas who avoided being sent off against us this season in the league.
