I was surprised but then they did say that if they dropped into bottom 3 he would be fired, can't see much hope for Norwich, face fulham next with the last 4 matches against Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal, I think CH would have been fired anyway, just to note all of the bottom 7 have sacked their managers this season.

why, have I got this picture in my mind of Delia saying to Chris

where are you, where are you, lets be having you, you're fired

<laugh>

I bet she was rat-arsed when she told him. Burping and farting and swigging from an empty wine bottle.

"You're fired..."

The more I think about it, the more I think Gus will be next for the chop......they've had a terrible last five weeks and Norwich have shown that a desperate situation requires a desperate remedy. Who knows, defeat against the spuds tomorrow might be his last game in charge for the Dismals.

Boy, these clubs sure are desperate to stay in this league (which gives me optimism that fat mike will realise he needs to spend money in the summer).

How come? What realistically are they going to achieve?

I hope Chris gets a job that deserves him next. He's proven himself a canny manager in very difficult circumstances, at Newcastle and Birmingham (look at them since!), and his record at Norwich isn't a blemish at all, given the context.

The Norwich fans are in the same boat as we are with Pardew.
They wanted CH gone, but he was clinging on and the Chairman kept on delaying the decision that was inevitable.
Its a gamble for them, if it works it will be the right decision for them.

Shame its happened, but, if we were in there situation, I would imagine protests and Pardew Out being the norm.
Come on we're 9th and look at us.

So much support for Hughton from Newcastle fans, yet all I can remember is people on fans' forums slagging the poor guy off when he was manager here. Calling him tactically naive/inept, playing negative football, having no plan B, and suchlike. Some people backed him but he got plenty of stick from the halfwits.

I remember most of us didn't want him sacked and there was quite a few articles about it.

Anyway, here's more of the situation down at Norwich.

Norwich have sacked manager Chris Hughton and replaced him with youth coach Neil Adams.

The Canaries were beaten 1-0 by West Brom on Saturday and are five points clear of the relegation zone with five games remaining.

They are still to play Fulham, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

A Norwich statement said: "The decision has been taken to give the club the maximum chance of survival."

Former Newcastle and Birmingham boss Hughton, 55, guided the Canaries to 11th in the Premier League last season.

But they have lost four of their last six league games and have scored just 26 goals all season, despite spending heavily on Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Gary Hooper in the summer.

Sections of home fans chanted 'we want Hughton out' during the West Brom defeat, but after the match Hughton insisted he was confident of an improvement in form.

"I understand frustrations and it is normal, but we have to understand it is us as a group and everybody is going to get us the results we need," he said.

Better than bringing in a new manager, what Norwich really need to motivate the players is for a pissed-up Delia to grab the mike in the centre circle before the next home game and ask which fan or player wants it*

* the it being the rolling pin she's swinging above her head.

Was going to say, the ground would empty a lot quicker than it does after a game.
