Guardiola's making Barca Munich progressively more boring, isn't he? Excellent technically, but rather dull.

Yep same old, very good of course but not that intereresting after the first 20 minutes. It's like a seige to a castle with battering rams and ladders. United need to get the boiling oil out and start pouring.

Great chance for Welbeck, but Neuer intimidated him into making a hash of it...

Well they got the oil at the end of the half but poured it on their own feet.

They appear to have distributed it liberally around the pitch, judging by the number of players falling over.
Is it my imagination or is that happening a lot in big games recently? Are sides overwatering the pitch now, for some reason? Is overwatering a word?

No idea PNP I must admit I have never played football on a pitch of the quality that these boys use. When I used to play if you over watered it would just form small lakes to clean your boots in. <laugh>

The average annual rainfall in Munich is 805mm compared to 806mm in Manchester. It seems they're used to the wet too.

Can't believe how much Utd have changed this season, they went into the game last night with a small club's mentality of "defend for your lives and hope to catch a break". Couple of years ago, not even that actually, Utd would've tried hammering Bayern at Old Trafford in the hope they'd have a lead going into the away leg. They look like they'll be lambs to the slaughter when going to the Allianz. If they pull off a win out there, it will literally be a footballing miracle.

Though I've gotta say, for as dominant in possession as Bayern were, they didn't really look too threatening. Maybe, like against Arsenal, they're not getting out of 2nd gear yet but Utd gave them a warning with Vidic's goal plus Welbeck should've scored, I don't think Bayern can afford to be too relaxed in the latter stages now. Hopefully (well, not for Utd fans) we'll get to see Bayern at 100% for when they face Utd again so we can get a real idea and understanding of just how immense they can be when on top form.

No surprise at all. Like Spurs, their on-pitch confidence has taken quite a pounding this season.
This + Munich being the opponent, meant they played as they did.
Hope the Welbeck mare is not the thing that puts them out.

Think the papers are carrying on April Fools day for us.

Kaboul to Arsenal and the Fail reports that Levy made a bid to buy Upton Park last season.

We get enough WUM's as it is, let alone the papers now joining in!

They had 74% for possession and three shots on target; Utd had four from 26%. Guardiola has them playing at times like Boycott used to bat. There's more to the game than just occupying the crease.

With the amount of sideways passing that Guardiola likes his teams to do, would anyone be against us selling them Dembele this summer? He'd fit right in!

The nightmare scenario was that Pep would combine the Teutonic pace/physicality with the Barca
possession/pressing game. Would have thought the CL clash last season would have taught Pep
why some of the former is needed rather than the latter.

A better Barca is the old Barca, but with the ability to completely beast any attempted
    bus parking.

Guardiola knows how to win trophies. Harry knows how to entertain the fans. It's been decades since Spurs could do both at once. I'd settle for boredom and trophies.

Don't think the Munich faithful will be happy with being turned into Barca Mk II.
They didn't need it getting to the last 2 CL finals, did they.

Adding the possession/pressing will make them even better.
    Removing the pace/physicality will not.
